I am home. I might go to Aspen this weekend. My sister is moving out there... Today, actually. Of course, it also hinges on what's going on with this Wicked Pissah Broad who is coming to visit shortly. I may adjust plans accordingly.
Trevor, Sid, are you fuckers back from Mexico yet?
Yeah, apparently, because of the nature of our work, everyone in our unit needs to be vaccinated Rabies and Yellow Fever in addition to the standard Army battery of Anthrax, Small Pox, and other normal people vaccinations.
Seriously, they made it 6 years without seeing each other? (about, at least... I'm assuming they spent some time together in there, but still) In any case, it's the suck.
Also, why rabies?
i'm not sure if this will work for you, but just follow your dreams. that's all i've been doing lately. i know it's what i'm supposed to be doing because everything just falls into place. for awhile i thought happiness lay in the arms of a woman, but that's not the case. it'd be nice i won't lie, but happiness for me is music.
Got home Wednesday. Got to see Sid and Trevor before they left for Cancun. Then I ended up taking care of my friend Dave who was too drunk to really do anything. Yeah. The day I get home from fucking Iraq, *I* end up being the responsible one.
Fucked up, I tell you.
I think tonight will be a good drinking... Read More
Nice to hear you made it back, especially to hang out with Sid and Trevor - good people they are (rather yoda-like little comment)....I don't think you are too emo - you're stuck in iraq, its lonely, you are dealing with a heirarchy which is about as dysfunctional as the place i am...so I don't think you are emo. Now go forth and drink!
Annisa had a set go up, which is always good. An ardent moo-stache supporter, she's always good to give me the thumbs up on my deployment growth. Alas, neither her or the other member of the Stache Brigade, zoomusikgrl, will ever see it in person, because that shit comes OFF the second I punch the clock out here.
Really? I'm pretty good with Arthurian legends, but I actually loved Mists of Avalon. It just seemed to flesh out the stories, I guess. Give depth and personality to the characters. Most of the original stories are just so black and white, good and evil. I like having more to that.
This, I hold as an indictment of the sad, sad, sad state of kids today, and the sorry examples of soldiers I have to deal with.
A work related conversation led us to talk about using Mecca as a point of geographical reference, as in "Ask him which way he would pray, since he has to face Mecca to pray. Use... Read More
It's amazing how much less stressful things are at work when you stop giving a fuck.
I'm considering looking into how this philosophy transfers to affairs of the heart.
On a completely unrelated note, I'd like to say that "Kiss Them For Me" is just a really fucking beautiful song, and while I'm not the biggest Siouxsie fan, that song ranks in my Top 10... Read More
According to wikipedia, the whole Greatest American Hero series is available on DVD. I agree with you, that I fear what it would be like to watch it now. I think watching it would just spoil my happy memories.
BTW, have you listened to "Face to Face"? If you are listening to "Kiss Them For Me" then you probably have but, if you somehow have not, then perhaps it is time you had. Great song, collaboration with Danny Elfman.
So. I've mentioned Alistair, our friendly neighborhood mouse, in some people's blogs. While we tolerate his presence, he is a member of Jaysh al-Rati, a terrorist organization that we are targeting as part of the Global War Against Rodents (or GWAR, for short). Since he isn't a militant member, we don't do anything to Alistair. In fact, sightings of him are usually light-hearted moments throughout... Read More
I see the boredom is catching up with you, my friend. I haven't mailed you a care package, but the stuff is sitting on my table. I slack, therefore I am.
