so for my first tatoo i think i'll start with "know thyself" in latin on the inside of my left wrist. Like from the matrix... oh so deep and meaningful for me. It brings to (my) mind both the oracle- then the matrix - then it's theories on free will - then my regection of christianity based on those theories, AND alexander pope (cause of his fam. epigram 'know then thyself, presume not god to scan, the cheif study of mankind is man") - then the writers of the enlightenment like paine and voltaire. So it's a special phrase... exept it HAS to be in latin, like in the matrix. but i can't make out in the film what the latin words are. i tried to translate it myself online, but latin never directly translates, so there were many choices.
And since i can't figure that out, i might go get a matching one with my sister of a scull and crossbones and a banner saying "shoulder to shoulder and back to back" (because of a book about anne bonny and mary read that we read over and over as children in our deep, depressing, lives ruled by fantasy and an obsession with pirates. when mary and anne go on deck for their last fight, firing below at their own cowardly male crew, the book describes it with the line "shoulder to soulder and back to back, stood mary and stood anne.") But i can't decide where to put it. ixay on the top right wrist idea because my dad won't allow that and i need him for college tuition. Ankle's too fuckin cliche. my shoulder blade is reserved for an evil bunny and my left arm for a bird. I def. want one coming up from my crotch but i can't decide what and i'm not about to go pick out some fucking ugly moon or taz devil just to have a tatoo. honestly, if i was concerned with cred. i'd quit listening to gwen stefani, no?

I think a tattoo should try to represent what you are in your soul; that which cannot be represented within the skin god gave you; I believe getting a tattoo for any other reason can result in you wanting to remove one day, like old clothing that have gone out of fashion.
