Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix

I had the opportunity to catch the latest Potter film last night. Now, I'm a huge Harry Potter fan - I've read all of the books at least twice, and I regularly watch the four movies. Of the books, OotP is my second to least favourite (Chamber of Secrets takes the cake there); I found it long and much of it unnecessary - the "important" information could have been told in just a few chapters. Having said that, I've read Order at least twice, and there are many aspects of it that I do enjoy: thestrals, the introduction of Luna Lovegood, the inquisitional squad, Tonks, the twins' dramatic exit, to name a few.

This latest installment of the Harry Potter movie franchise was good, but not great - much like the book. We see Harry become slightly more emo - I quite seriously feared that at some point, Harry would slick his hair down and dance down the street a la Peter Parker. The movie was approximately two and a half hours long, and I'm still racking my brain trying to figure out what happened in all that time. I enjoyed it, don't get me wrong but I found it extremely anti-climactic.

Tonks did not get nearly enough screen-time, which makes me sad. I understand that she is a minor character in the book, but she's awesome. For some reason they gave her purple hair too, which makes very little sense to me.

Luna was perfectly cast. I read on IMDb that the actress who plays her actually made the radish earrings worn in the film.

James and Oliver Phelps, who play the Weasly twins were great the scene that fans of the book were waiting for does not disappoint. Kick ass.

Professor Umbridge was evil, just like she was supposed to be; perhaps not quite as I imagined her while reading the book, but still brilliant.

We don't see much character development in this latest film. A couple new ones are introduced, but I was left feeling like, "WHY?"

I will definitely go see Order of the Pheonix again, even if I have to pay to do so. I did miss bits and pieces due to rowdy co-workers making comments. The special effects were well done, and the story is enjoyable. Nobody is going to understand who I am, dressed as Tonks for the premier though *sigh*

Transformers

I loved it. Here's a picture of me modelling the unpainted Optimus Prime helmet and chest piece:

Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?

I didn't want the hassle of deciding and shaved mine. I had been thinking about it for awhile and not being able to find any scissors around the house... *Sigh* I was left with only a razor blade... Heehee. biggrin
