Where'd She Go?
I've been away for almost a month now, and I've probably only been active on SG for just a few of those days
Holy withdrawl, Batman! I've been having lots of fun though. The best part? Hanging with my family is definately fun, I've missed them all a lot since moving far far away. Seeing real trees, moss and water - streams, rivers, and oh! the ocean. Heaven on Earth.
Small Family Get-Together
Sunday we had a dinner for 14 people at my mom's place. Turkey, stuffing, stuffed potatoes, gravy, peas, brussell's sprouts (blech), carrots, pie, cake, whipping cream... mmmm. It was kind of a belated xmas dinner, because I of course missed it this year. I made my grandad a lemon merangue (sp?) pie for dessert - it's his fave. I took lots and lots of pictures of all of us together, which I was happy about - so many members of our family are over 80 now, and I guess you never really know when it's going to be the last time that we all get together. Kind of a sad thought, but it makes me really, truly appreciate the times like this that we do hang out.
Sibling Sleepover
There were several missing, but five of us got together for a sleepover party this past Saturday. We went bowling, we ate McDonalds, played Cranium Family Fun (kind of like regular Cranium, but slightly sillier), watched "Saw III" - lots of fun. There were blankets and bedrolls all over the floor, mixed in with beer cans and bowls of gummy bears and choco-covered raisins, chip bags and so on.
I was second to sleep at 2am, three others stayed up until almost five
LoL, they were telling ghost stories. Since we were mostly separated until we were older, we missed out on a lot of that silly, goofy sibling stuff - we have a lot of catching up to do. Two of my sisters and I were actually friends growing up, playing Popples and My Little Ponies together, completely oblivious to the fact that we were related. Craziness. Anyway, lots of silly fun was had by our troupe.
My 21-year-old sister and I went to the gym together after lunch the next morning. Now, I work out, going to the gym a bare minimum of once a week (if I'm really on top of things, I'll go three times), and I do a fair bit of walking, too; I consider myself pretty fit. My sister almost killed me with her workout, OMG. She actually worked at a gym for awhile, so she has some pretty hardcore exercises. Seriously, it's Tuesday and it still hurts to breathe. We had a good time - just the two of us - and I'll have some intense new things to add to my routine when I get home, and you know, heal and stuff.
One Man Star Wars Trilogy
Mid-last week I had the amazing opportunity to see Charles Ross perform his One Man Star Wars show at the university theatre.
Wow
This guy is so freaking awesome. A Canadian actor, grew up and went to school in my home province - he's travelled the world with his show and even got to do Star Wars Celebration 3. He autographed my program for my friend Adrian, who got to see him at SWC3 - saying that he'd better come see him at SWC4. LoL. If this show comes anywhere remotely near you, you've got to go see it - even if you're not a huge Star Wars geek like me (I did actually wear one of my toy lightsabers on my belt to the show), it's still fantastic theatre. His ad-libs are freaking hilarious, and he really plays up the whiny-Luke thing. You can find more info on his website, because my simple words cannot do him the justice he deserves:

So that's a few of the main things I've been up to. Tea with friends, visiting siblings, shopping with my mom, yakking on the phone with people I can't afford to call from "home" - it's been great.
I've had one or two really crummy things happen... for instance, I ran into my father while at the store. My sister and I had just finished at the gym and needed to pick a couple things up. I haven't talked to him since I arrived almost a month ago (though I know he knows I'm here - my family has a crazy grapevine). When we saw him he spoke mostly to my sister, and did not even make eye contact with me. Didn't ask me how my trip out was or anything. Later, my mom said he was probably still really pissed at me because I spilled to one of my young sisters that our cousin might be our half-sister (I think that was back in September or something). Regardless, he treated me as if I were lower than garbage stuck to a rat's foot - and that stings a bit.
Mostly, it's been a great trip. I will say that coming home and sleeping in my own bed sounds lovely, though. I hope everyone out there is well and happy, and that you all forgive me for not messaging anyone back in ages
