I hope everyone is having a terrific holiday season
The big dinner went really well last night, I somehow served a turkey dinner to nine people in my tiny house - on time no less. I made buns from scratch, and they rose beautifully (insert dirty comment here

My cousin and my aunt arrived in the afternoon for some nice conversation with soft holiday-themed jazz playing in the background. My neighbour, who has no extended family around here, came with her kids a little later - it was great (okay, they had to bring their own chairs, but still, great). Laughter and food, lights on the tree, camera flashes, Bear sleeping under the table*, more betters.... it was great. My mom and I even read "T'was the Night Before Christmas" together over the telephone - as cuddling up on the couch to read it has been a tradition with us for as long as I can remember. It was hard not to be at home this year.
After everyone left, I got some last minute wrapping done - and I snuggled up on the couch (under my Harry Potter blanket) to watch the colourized version of "Scrooge" with Alistair Simm. The Space television station was playing some Planet of the Apes movie, so I was not accompanied to bed for a long winter's nap
I'm interested to hear what everyone got and/or gave for gifts this year! Favourites?
I think the three favourite things I gave this year were 1) the set of Edward Gorey prints from a calander, framed; 2) a custom toque with a saying that hardly anyone will get
(the girl was like, "Wait..... *what* do you want it to say?"
); and 3) a big cross-stitch that I made for my mom, snowmen. Yay.
Looking forward to that nice quiet lull that happens between Christmas and New Years.... okay, and maybe a teensy bit of Boxing Day shopping

* R-Dog did not get to participate in the holiday festivities that included guests - he's so darn impolite whenever there are new laps to climb into. Shed not a tear for the poor pooch, he spent the evening on my bed, and was treated with a rawhide and a pig's ear in the morning.
And with dying my hair with a red tone to it makes it even worse. It takes about a week for all the 'excess' red to wash out or else everything I wear that's a light colour gets orange around the neck and back area.
