By the end of the night, I only got NINE trick-or-treaters. My big ass picnic basket is still 2/3 full of chocolates and eyeball bubble gum. As I mentioned to ReverendAsh, my waistline is doomed, doomed I tells ya.
Anniversaries
Tonight, just after nine o'clock, will be the anniversary of my brother's car accident. It took his life, plus the lives of his girlfriend and two of their friends. My brother lived for six days in intensive care, until pneumonia claimed his life. Had it not got him first, his head injury would have taken him from us eventually - sooner, rather than later, according to the doctors.
Today is a touchy day for me, as is the ninth of November - which is when we lost him. It was a Sunday. Two of my sisters and I got matching tattoos for him the day before he passed. We knew he was going to go by that point. I almost think knowing and waiting was worse than having him go right away. Maybe. I don't know. At least I got to sit with him, hold his hand, and say good-bye.
The roadside memorial is still up - four crosses on the side of the Trans Canada. I wish I could be back home to lay flowers for them. On the first anniversary I took a jar of pickles for my brother, instead of flowers, because that was his favourite. Dills.
We kind of had a Star Wars relationship.... I only knew my brother for three years. We had been purposely separated. Long story. I figure nobody would think poorly of Princess Leia had she mourned terribly over Luke had he died on the second Death Star.

Gloomy
So I realize that this is turning into a rather gloomy post.... Know what would make us all feel better? Going to wish zenFish a very very very happy 26th birthday.
Here's a joke from a family member - "What did the bride say as she entered the church on her wedding day?
lol
this is too cheesy, but I had to share...
