A Great Big Yay for Twwly!
Twwly is one of my very very favourite Suicide Girls, and she's just had her baby boy! There is an adorable picture of him here. Yay for babies and mommies everywhere
Peas and Cues
Last night, at around nine o'clock, a friend comes knocking on my door, asking how to get a resum onto a blank cd-rom on his computer. This friend has been MIA for over a week now, and suddenly shows up out of the blue. I ask what kind of file and talk to him a bit while I put some suitable clothes on (I was lounging in my SpongeBob boxers and a t-shirt when he came over, so I just threw some sweats on over top). He tells me that if he got his resum in by 7am, he was all but guarunteed a really good job. I'm always more than happy to help - especially this particular friend, because he's been through a lot lately.
So, I get to his house and he doesn't even have the thing typed up yet. Sigh. He has a friend over and they've obviously been drinking for quite some time. I'm offered a beer and then I get to work. I sit down at the computer and pull up a template to get him started. Then, I typed it all up for him, prettying up his language here and there. No problem. Then he says, so, can we print it now. "Sure," I reply, "where's your printer?" He doesn't have one, but he tells me our neighbour has one. I figure, okay, I'll just email it to her and presto. His internet service has been cut. Oh man. So that's why he wanted it on a cd, okay, no problem. I fiddle a bit and get the thing saved on a cd and a floppy disk, just in case. My friend asks *me* to take it over to our friend's house, so I do, and I try to help her get it set up (no, I don't have a working printer). For some reason it won't open the file. Her computer had crashed a couple weeks ago and she re-booted all by herself and missed some important stuff, I guess. Long story short, no dice.
By eleven o'clock, I'm typing it out on my computer and emailing it to our friend with the printer. It won't work either. Something about my Windows XP and her Windows 98... I dunno. It was a real mess, came up all jibberish. So I copied the file straight into an email and she finally got it. Near midnight, the friend who needed the resum came over to tell me that he was going to bed, but he was leaving his door open so either me or our other friend could slip the finished resum into his house when we finished.
I'll admit, I was slightly taken aback. I was helping him out, running all over hell's half acre & typing and whatnot for almost three hours, and he was going to sleep while I stayed up and worked more on it? And poor printer friend across the way is still trying to fix the resum (all the margins and bullets and stuff got messed up when it was emailed). And he just left. I have no idea what time our other friend finished the thing and brought it over... is it just me, or was he really frakking inconsiderate?
While I was typing up the resum at his house (the first time), he was saying that I was the best and stuff, so it's not like I didn't get a sort-of-thank-you. But he was kinda drunk, so it was a bit uncomfortable; he also let it slip at this point how his ex-fiance (my friend) had "accidentally" viewed my rejected set on my camera and how sexy he thought that was - yah, slightly weird. And I just felt so very unsexy at the time, drinking beer in my sweats....
I've been told that I can be "too nice" and that often leads to being stepped on. Sometimes, I do go a bit too far when I'm helping out. I probably just should've stopped at the typing-of-the-resum point and gone home. I am constantly seeking approval, even from people who's opinion shouldn't really matter, you know? I do back-flips for people (usually jerks), and then I feel all hurt when I don't get a "Gee thanks, Marvel!"
Anyway, that was how I spent my night last night, fun fun, hey? Tonight should be better, though. Jericho is on, then Lost - I plan on not answering my telephone or my door. I'm just gonna curl up on my couch with my dogs and watch t.v. I think I'll make some chicken glazed with honey mustard vinagrette and put that into a salad. Mmmm.
I hope everybody has a good day
