This is my very first post in my very first blog, so please bear with me. I absolutely love movies, so a lot of my posts will probably center around movies.

I recently rented "Beowulf and Grendel" (2005, directed by Sturla Gunnarsson). I gotta say, I was really impressed. I was kind of thinking that it would be a slow-moving drama, with a bit of violence thrown in for good measure - the latter was enough for me to bring it home. The movie is based on the epic poem "Beowulf" -a tale of a Norse warrior (Beowulf) and a troll (Grendel). The premise sounded simple - good versus evil - but when are things ever so easy? The scenery was amazing, filmed on location in Iceland - gorgeous. It was good to see Sarah Polley again (wasn't she awesome in "Dawn of the Dead"?), and Gerard Butler played a very torn Beowulf. Playing a rather comedic foil was Tony Curran, whom to me, anyway, is most recognizable as the character Marcus from "Underworld Evolution." All in all a very good movie, though there could have been more blood-spillage. With a tagline like, "Heads will roll" I kind of expect more carnage. But that's just this girls opinion.
