I'm back now. At first, I really missed this place a lot, but that was because of all the attention I was getting with that icky persona I was developing. No more of that. That's not me. I want to be myself, even if it means people don't talk to me as much. That's what it's like for me in real life, anyway.

After a while, I really didn't miss SG much at all. I was glad to be away from the scores of drunken perverts. The sexuality of this place is something I did not miss at all and was glad to be rid of. And there are popularity things going on here that I just don't like. I think that after a while it's easy to get drawn into the whole "charismatic Internet persona" thing here, because so many people on SG seem to love it and kiss the behinds of the attention-seekers. Sometimes really blatantly, too; it bothers me. Someone starts a thread, and you see post after post "you are so amazing, I love you, etc. etc." But I know there are other people who get lots of attention, but they don't seem to be putting on an act.

In the time I was away, I played a lot of Animal Crossing: Wild World. I started a new journal to replace my old LiveJournal and MySpace journal, and it's basically an Animal Crossing journal. I doubt many of you are into Animal Crossing, so I'll understand if you don't read and comment on it. I imagine it would get pretty boring to a non-player after a while. Still, I'm not sure how much I'll be journaling here, so that may be the place to find me if I'm not around here much.

The semester has begun, and I feel like I'm in way over my head. The Computer Systems Architecture lectures go right over my head, and the other class, Programming Languages and Paradigms, has hardly any rules or guidelines at all, so I feel like I'm treading water and could drown at any moment. frown I missed Tuesday's classes, because I have been feeling pretty lousy lately, so things are even more shaky. blackeyed I have to get a handle on this; it's supposed to be my final semester ever. I have to make this happen.

Mom is having me stay over at a hotel over the weekend; can you believe it? Her complaint is that I never go anywhere, which is, of course, true. This is a long-term stay hotel, so I'll have a little mini-kitchen and will be bringing my kitty, Sabrina, with me.

Mom and I actually stayed at such a place for a couple of months or more a couple of years ago, when our idiot upstairs neighbor went to California and didn't turn the heat on over the winter. The sprinkler pipes burst and flooded our condo, destroying a lot of stuff. Our furniture was luckily unharmed for the most part, but the carpet and walls were in bad shape, and they had to tear it all up and fix it and repaint it.

And I loved it there! With our mini-kitchen and high-speed Internet access, and a cleaning crew on hand to get rid of the mess every day, it was really a lovely place to stay. For me, anyway. So that's part of why Mom wanted me to do this; she knew how much I enjoyed it.

She's booked the reservations and gave me her credit card to pay. I can't say I'm absolutely thrilled about this, but I can bring my computer and laptop and games and study materials, so I should be good to go, hopefully. Let's hope things go OK. Whenever I have to move my computer from its usual resting place, I start having nightmares (or daymares, or something) that I will drop the thing in transit and will be without a computer. Total nightmare if that happened! I do have the laptop, but I'd lose a lot of stuff if my main machine died. So cross your fingers for me.

I'm going to have to convince a villager to stay in my Animal Crossing town now. So that's all for now. Bye all.

Welcome back!

Animal Crossing has been usurped in the Funster household, as I have Viva Pinata on the 360 now. Imagine the gardening & bug collecting on AC writ large, and you get the general idea. It's annoyingly cute and just as addictive in its "ongoing maintenance" gameplay. I grew a poppy the other day and was probably way too pleased about it than a 30 year old married man should be. biggrin

Although, I do have a wifi dongle for my Wii, I could always get AC:WW back and start another town. I never got on with it too well after I kept getting visits from that pushy salesman. Does he ever go away?
