So for those of you who weren't convinced by the DNA strand tattoo, I now offer incontrovertible evidence that I am a MEGA-dork.

OK, so I got around to writing part of one my new pieces. Here's one I'm sure you can all relate to: why working sucks. Actually, I'd love to hear from anyone who has similar/better stories, I'm sure they're out there. Hell, my mother worked as a factory line worker in a bubble gum cigar factory, which tops...

Thanks! Nice to see you, too. Looking forward to eating up a storm on wednesday.
Another day, and again essentially nothing accomplished. This time I had a plan - I was supposed to be doing a behavior experiment on my mutant mice all afternoon. I went down to the behavioral facility, and of course, the activity monitoring equipment was no longer working. Dammit. Which is why I had so many damned posts in CE today, because there was really nothing...

In a nutshell, they are renegotiaing the terms of the contract, you can accept or not. Sometimes what they do is legitimate, sometimes its questionable, but they pretty much bank on the notion that so long as their plocies aren't so out of line and universal that it would trigger a class action lawsuit nobody is going go to the trouble of suing them. ISPs are worse. They make unilateral decisions all the time that are illegitimate, but as the only recourse you really have is to sue of a refund of that months payment, they usually get away with it. in either case your continued use of the service is considered ratification of the new terms. There was no such trigger event to inicate acceptance of your offer so they have declined to accept your new terms.
The military OTOH is quite different, because you cant get out of the "contract". They say "Yeah it was a two year enlistment, but now its four." With any other part, you can simply say "Nah, fuck off, you breached the agreement her's your uniform back." Not so with military contracts. Military contracts youre bound to perform regardelss of how they change the terms (for the most part, there are constitutional and federal law limitations)

I am a lazy sack of shit. That's all there is to it. It's now 2:30pm and I've gotten pretty much nothing at all done today. Nor did I get anything done yesterday. I had a whole bunch of cells prepared for electrophysiological recordings, and they all died. Sucks. And I can't prepare any more until next week, so I'm back to writing again. Which...

Big Trouble in Little China? Yes, I have owned this DVD for a long, long time now. It truely is a great movie. I am now watching something called FireFly on DVD. A friend of mine loaned it to me. It's one of the shows that had 13 episodes on Fox before being cancelled. Created by the guy who created Buffy.
I have to say, DVD is one of the best things to happen to TV. I haven't had TV in over 3 years now. I hate it with a passion. But to watch my favorite shows without commercials...there's just something so right about that!

Yeah, the Mars landing is beyond cool. It interesting. Now there are I think 2 probes circling mars, and soon to be two landers. Be nice to build up a little robotic network around the place. I had a journal entry a while back saying I preferred robotic exploration to human. You have any opinions on this?
There is another probe set for Mercury. I don't see the reason for it, but I guess that's why I don't work at NASA.

I am not an Ivy League intellectual (or perhaps an intellectual at all) but I have an advanced degree in something in the liberal arts and read the Nation and Mother Jones monthly. I am proudly Independent (or Unaffiliated, as they call it here in North Carolina.)
I am also a life member of the NRA and a member of the Sierra Club. I am VIGOROUSLY pro-choice and pro-union. And....I work for a bank.
I don't sleep well, obviously.

Oh well. Between holidays, houseguests, traveling back and forth from Pennsylvania and my grandfather's 90th

Got a great haul for christmas this year. As usual, it consisted almost entirely of books and DVDs, but lots of good stuff. For DVDs I got the third season of the Family Guy,...

Oh, and your entry reminds me of "Sex in the City". As much as I adore that show and the characters, their shallow natures really irk me sometimes.

Fuck Time Warner Cable. That's all I have to say. My home internet has been out since Thursday, hence no journal entries, not much time on SG. So I'm doing a quick journal udpate from the lab, and hoping that I don't get in trouble with our network admin for accessing 'questionable' sites while at work. Oh well.

There will be some other screenings coming up as well. Rest assured, I will be doing plenty of shameless self promotion as the dates approach
And if you're interested in deep space stuff, you should look at the new generation of DS telescopes they are considering. I remember reading about an idea for three telescopes all floating out in space thousands of miles apart, and triangulating to form, essentially one HUGE telescope, thousands of miles across. I am not sure if this is a reality, but NASA does have a cool site for tracking what they call the DS projects.

Ow. Got my new tattoo. It looks pretty cool, but burns like crazy. Well, I'll have to wait it out, I suppose.
I have that icky "buyer's remorse" type feeling that I always have after I do something permanent or semi-permanent to myself, I keep thinking "Do I really want this forever?" I seemed pretty sure when I decided to get it done. It'll pass....

Ack! I didn't answer your question. Naughty bunny.
I'm going Up North (always capitalized in Michigan) to visit my family. They do not have an internet connection, so I will be without IMs, email, and SG for about six days. I plan to do a lot of reading. Lots and lots of reading.
I'm not sure about New Year's Eve. I was supposed to spend it with my (now ex) boyfriend and our friends, but I'm not sure now... I'd still like to, but it might be Weird, and I don't want to make anyone's holiday Weird. So I'm not really sure. My mother said I could stay an extra week and celebrate with them, but as much as I love them... NO. I need the city. I need the noise. I need the internet. I need buildings taller than one story.
