Well all you gorgeous lovely sexy people, this has been my next-to-last working day of the year (I work on the 29th), and I'll be off like the proverbial prom dress tomorrow to spend the holiday week with my in-laws - which means very limited SG time, if any. I'm getting withdrawal symptoms just thinking about it!
Rarely has my Christmas mood been as nonexistent as this year. My trip to China took me far away just when Christmas markets were starting to do big business, my job situation remained a roller coaster of conflicting feelings (just today we said goodbye to 4 people leaving), and my grandma-in-law had a stroke earlier this week, which casts a pall over the holidays. Add to that the shitty unseasonal weather we're having (Singin' In The Rain could be this year's Christmas movie), and the Spirit of Christmas Present just won't materialize. Oh well, maybe things will look up!
This will date me something terrible, but I'm of a generation that still writes real snail-mail Christmas cards... and I've got a cramp in my hand after churning out a stack of them this week. I haven't had too much luck with SGs as correspondents - in the past, I've written to some, but only one has ever written back - but I'm trying again this year. So, @fay and @drave ,I'm not expecting you guys to write me back, but I'd love to know they've safely reached you...
The job uncertainty will carry over into the new year, as will my unceasing attempts to find something new, so I fully expect 2015 to bring big changes. We haven't made any huge travel plans except for a May trip to Lyon, France, but just as I was sucked into going to China this year, I may be visiting New York City in 2015 with another group of our students...which would be my first U.S. visit in more than 10 years. We'll see.
It's kind of funny that I have fairly exotic cousins (one born and living in Colombia, and one adopted cousin who lives in China) and that both of them would drop by Berlin within a few months of each other after I hadn't seen either one in decades, or never, in the case of Luis Miguel from Colombia. Ho, my Chinese cousin, is visiting Berlin in January, which I'm looking forward to.
Well, I don't suppose this is of any great interest to anyone, but if you've read my therapeutic ramblings so far, here's the payoff: I wish every one in the SG universe, especially my followers and follow-ees, a wonderful Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa (if they celebrate any of these) or at least a stress free and relaxing time in case they do not, and I hope 2015 will be a fantastically happy year in every way for all. <3
