Spent a pleasant half-a-day recently at the fairly new Museum Barberini in Potsdam, a showcase for modern art financed by SAP co-founder and well-known (in Germany, that is) billionaire Hasso Plattner. Bill Gates showed up when the museum was opened a year or so ago.

So, here are a few impressions of lovely downtown Potsdam and a few images of the art on display; currently...

Yet another museum that I'd like to see. Monumental buildings nicely appointed.

I really would love to meet the museum looks amazing. Thank you for these beautiful pictures.

For those happy few who occasionally read my ramblings, here's an update on my life - the story of this Summer had so far been that I, along with my colleagues, was working on concepts to keep our little school for "behaviorally challenged" boys afloat beyond the new school year, which started 08/20. This wouldn't have been easy in any event, since we...

Wow. That really sucks for you, the parents, and those kids.

I hope these bad times are over soon .. try to think about new projects .. I'm sure it will be all right soon!

I was a happy camper when a not-so-little package with a signed pic and some bonus goodies from @saturn arrived the other day. Check out her web shop if you want to get yours! Now, where to hang this pic - maybe my wife has an idea?

Now that I have autographed pics from my three fave SGs - @drave @exning and @saturn - my life is basically

I a bit jealous that you got one from drave. She is amazing

Ha, look at me - replying the next day and all. Don't worry, Jumping Spiders only want to love your face, chest-burster style. ;)

What's new in Berlin? My workplace is closed for summer vacation, and I only come in there every day for about 2-3 hours to take care of paperwork, incoming calls and such - so it's a partial vacation for me, too. Like many other places worldwide, Berlin has been gasping in extreme heat for a couple of weeks now, with today's temperatures reaching...

I love Okonomiyaki! I ate so much of it in Hiroshima - I think it's different to the Osaka style somehow, but a bit fuzzy on the exact details. I've got to try and cook it one day!

July 26th: finished my Hudson Valley NY deliveries and took the Turnpike back to Maine, in an attempt to get home early. No such luck, 2 bad accidents made 5 & 15 miles take 20 and 45 minutes: it is why I prefer the back roads. ***Not in the same league; there are several Gluten Free Asian style noodle soups in the market, that I enjoy for breakfast. Usually in too much of a rush to do more than slicing a scullion into it. *** 1 of the cable channels in a motel I frequent had the Tokyo News Channel ( sorely missed) in a food segment on Nagasaki?? they did a thing on how the noodles where made with Lye Water, which gave a texture unlike noodles everywhere else in Japan. Enjoy.

Daunting, isn't it? @shadowbard made me do it, blame him ;-)

1. Do you like blue cheese? Love it! Especially French (Roquefort) and Italian (Gorgonzola).

2. Coke or Pepsi? I don't drink soda all that often, but as a PepsiCo shareholder, I'll go with Pepsi.

3. Do you own a gun? Nope. It's not really a thing here in Germany. Last time...

I didn't know you did military training! Is it compulsory there?
kaicito:
@deesilvs It was until 2011; service has been voluntary since then. I served for 15 months, down from the original 18 months.

She hardly ever is on here anymore, but I keep up with @pseekaal SG on her facebook and IG and take the liberty of reposting here sometimes. Her website is http://www.holymane.com (mostly in French, I'm afraid) where you can check out (and purchase) her artwork. I love her unique look and really wish she'd do a comeback shoot sometime - but...

I have to post on SG sometimes. You could be my agent ^^ Thank you. <3

@pseekaal The usual 10 percent? ;-)

I survived the dreaded summer camp for our boys... and it actually turned out to be a not unpleasant experience. The location was beautiful, and while the boys spent their nights in a group tent, we two counselors had a cool stationary "circus car" to ourselves. We were not so lucky with the weather, which oscillated between downpours and heat. Mornings and evenings were the...

@deesilvs No poking! I was trying to swing the grill around. But I suppose it shows that I don't normally do this..

You do look somewhat skeptical about your approach hahaha

Going to see "The Nose" by Dimitri Shostakovitch tonight at Berlin's Komische Oper. Should be fun - here's a little video with the nose traipsing around various Berlin spots to music from the opera:

Well it was #almostinstapink but I'm super duper happy that babelicious @adriella is PINK with her very first set! Such a unique and striking beauty, a fabulous addition to the ranks of SG.

My b'day fell on a Wednesday this year, so we went out for a celebratory lunch this Saturday... we chose a Norwegian restaurant (well, I suppose THE Norwegian restaurant) here in Berlin, which features famed painter Munch in its décor.

Afterwards we visited the fairly recently opened Urban Nation street art museum.

Here are a few pictorial impressions:

A belated happy birthday to you. I love Berlin, I've been twice and spent most of my visits in art galleries and museums.

If you've been following my rants and ramblings, you know I've been championing @oceana since like forever, so you can imagine that I feel super happy that she's turned PINK as her set Chill with SG will be SOTD (also, congrats to @sunshine for this winning set)! Long overdue but still appreciated most enthusiastically <3 Stoked that this Goddess is pink at...

my mom used to say "we are a proper southern (Texas) family: we don't' lock up our crazy relatives--we put them out on the porch where they belong!" -- which in fact her generation did.
