Germany is bracing for its first real heat wave of this summer, with temperatures expected to reach some 34 degrees celsius this holiday (Pentecost) weekend. Or I should say I'm bracing for it, with basically everyone else eagerly anticipating a sweltering taste of the Sahara. No, I'm not a fan of summer; to my mind, the only saving grace of this season is the adverse effect it has on the amount of clothes girls wear.
Today was still bearable and nice...we enjoyed a visit from my Korean tandem student, Euna... she had prepared some authentic Korean food, especially bulgogi, to which we contributed beer, cider, fruit, and ice cream. We played board games and had fun trying to understand each other. Now the day is drawing to a close and I'm typing this sitting on our balcony and listening to the birds singing their evening melodies. No summer lightning in sight, but I may take my worn copy of the P.G.Wodehouse book of the same title off my shelf for some lighthearted fun.
