ah, another exciting day in the life of jay13. actually, today was better than average.
I woke up late, as is my custom. Then I went downtown to see the movie Sylvia at the indie theater. For those of you who are uninformed, this was Gwyneth Paltrow playing the part of Sylvia Plath in the story of her life with husband Ted Hughes. It was amazing. I already knew the highlights of the story, being a longtime Plath fan, but this movie really brought the story to life. Paltrow delivered a phenomenal performance. She really dialed in what it's like to be depressed/obsessed/imbalanced. Not that I have any first-hand experience in such things.
The best part was when they first met. Within ten minutes or so of meeting Ted, Sylvia sexily bites the shit out of his cheek when he tries to go talk to someone else. If that really happened, I have all new respect (and funny feelings) for her. I mean shit this was 1956.
Since it was only ten or so when the movie let out, I proceeded to go on a drinking bender. (Which is continuing, as we speak, with a few Guiness I had stashed at the house.) This would've pretty much been business as usual, if I had not run into people, whom I previously did not know, that filled me in on what I'll be doing tomorrow night.
drum roll please.
I'm going to the House of Blues in Orlando to see SOCIAL Mother-fuckin' DISTORTION.
(I mean if that doesn't deserve a luchador, then what does?)
Talk about stoke-lahoma. I could not be happier right now. (okay, I could. but, I'm not going to bore you with any of my personal perversions right now.)
There have been a lot of shows over the years. I've missed a lot of bands that I love and will never be able to see. I saw some fucking bands I never thought I'd be able to see that got back together. And, I've seen some bands that no one will ever see again. I won't go into the shows that I've missed like a dumbass over the years, but hell, I'm drunk and happy. So, I'll rub a couple of things in peoples noses. After ALL had put out I don't know how many albums, The Descendents got back together to put out Everything Sucks and I got my redemption and saw them live. I was sure Milo was never coming back from the mild-mannered world of biochemistry. Also, I saw Sublime in '96 right after robbin' the hood came out. If I'd known then what I know now, I would've gotten over my "I'm no jock-riding dork. I'll just shake your hand and say great show" complex and made damn sure I found out where they were partying after the show. R.I.P. Brad.
Anyway, here's my chance, and I'm not missing Social D.
Take it easy everybody. Eat your hearts out.

Damn the man
I saw the Sex Pistols in Toronto back in August. Some guy in the front row kept throwing a cup of beer (it may have been pee, I'm not sure) at Johnny Rotton. He Threw a hissy fit, called the crowd a bunch of "cunts" and then walked off the stage.
Best fucking show EVER!!!
He came back out 10 minutes later when security removed the offending punk. and the show went on.
I can't wait to be a rock star!!!!!!
Never ben so happy to be called a "cunt" in my life,
Trixie
