I don't have anything to say about Rand as a prose stylist. All I can say, and all I did say, was that insofar as she considered herself a philosopher, she is a bad one. Her doctrine of selfishness, as I understand it, is circular.

There are people in the group who have read Rand and harbour far more disdain for her than I do, and it would do us some good in our ivory tower to have something to talk about other than how smart we all are.
