whoo-hoo, heat wave in Rochester....we're in the 40's now!

yeah, its pitiful when 40 degrees F (5 degrees C for the non-Americans) is considered a heat wave, huh?

so my family returns today....since they left on Friday, here's what I've done:

worked 16 hours overnight
slept
towels (there are 2 towels total right now that need washing....including the towel I used to shower today)
vacuumed...

Yeah, I dunno. The point gets across, it just isn't what I was expecting when I clicked "Publications" is all.

well, my vacation has started. around 5 AM this morning, my mom and step-father started the drive to North Carolina to visit my younger sister. you see, the thing she married has come up here for another annual football game with his family. leaving her down in North Carolina by herself.

then again, she should be used to it by now. he seems to think...

Our ferries actually do pretty well, we even added a couple from NYC to handle casino traffic. Your mayor was gambling on the traffic to and from canada to generate a profit ... but we all know the canatards are the worlds worst cheapskates biggrin

I checked out your page - I am not sure I understand the goal. Personally I thought several of the sections (e.g., "About Me" and "Main") to be too informal for professional use. But then, wouldn't you send a resume anyway? So that's really the crux of my "what's the goal? query. Also to me "Publications" means "published in a peer reviewed professional journal" while what you have listed to me are more like "projects" or "sginificant accomplishments" or something like that. Also the underline wraps to the next line in Activities.

It's been over a decade since I was involved with academia, so things may have changed. Just my impressions.

Hmm, do you get OT for working Thanksgiving? Last time I had an hourly any holiday worked was automatically time and a half - two and a half if it put me over 40 for the week. I loved that.

well, things have gotten interesting in my life. see, my cousin's wife has started to act kind of weird in the past month or so. basically, from going on about how my cousin is one of the best things to happen to her (let's see....she's now off of welfare, they have a house and three kids, and he supported her as she got her Associates...

pandara:
Thank goodness.

Hey why is everyone having the relationship blues??
red_pyramid:
I'm trying like hell to avoid having to drive to another city to work. It seems as though I may have to do that.
Luckily, I got in touch with the insurance place, $250 deductible, and from the places I've checked, it's $300 to $350 total, just paying cash. It's no problem fixing it.
As for the crack itself, I'm almost certain some little shit ran up to it and smashed it with a brick, taking the brick with it. Now I also thought of rapid temperature change, but that couldn't happen, (I wouldn't think) if I didn't drive it that day. Oh well. I'll guard it now for sure, 9mm in hand.

Relationships are a rocky boat to say the least. No one can ever seem to be truly happy with anyone these days. Thank you society!!

well, I'm now on an ignore list....long story short:

met someone here in a group, really nice person.

she started dating someone that, well, wanted her to change her ways exclusively for him. changes such as no longer interacting with people here that were supportive of her. you know, friends.

they break up. she reveals she is dealing with some issues. among the break-up information...

At first, I could withstand his assault because I really don't respect him much, and I thought I really knew who I was...but then when I saw that people on my friends list read it and never commented to the contrary, it kinda hurt ..then I worried that maybe they believed him.

At the end of the day, I just worry and wonder about her. I don't even care if she stays with him, as long as she is happy and healthy. That's all I wanted for her.

well, a few things....

1. no call back. no job. that sucks. frown seriously, how did they find someone better qualified in a week? for a school district about 10 years behind the times in pay scale? to put things in perspective, I offer:

2 Masters Degrees
5 years experience Higher Education Administration
6 weeks working as a long-term substitute school counselor 7-12

and I applied...

so I have a feeling that things will be winding down at Dundee. which is good in some ways, such as the following:

1. no more getting up at 4:30 to 5:00 AM five days a week.

2. no more leaving my house between 5:30 AM to 5:45 AM to drive there, arriving between 7:15 AM and 7:30 AM. then leaving there between 3:15 PM...

2. crazy stuff with my cousin....his wife has drained their account of about $700 the past few days. his response? he has his own account now....
