so my Mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas....I went to Musiciansfriend.com and ordered an A-Frame stand my bass guitar (its an acoustic bass...pretty light and nothing special). included was a free gift of a wall-hanging holder for a guitar. she has an old acoustic guitar that was sitting in the corner of the living room...its now up on the wall. figure it was...

I've always "To Whom it may concern" on my cover letters.
nene:
I agree with MDF regarding the cover letter. Take that photo soon, I would love to see how it looks.

You keep asking me that question. Haven't we pounded the lore into your head yet? Holidays are Christianized versions of Pagan celebrations. Old pagan customs refused to die out so the church "cleaned" them up a bit and added their own flavor, even conveniently changing some of the dates................... tell me you just do this to get me riled up. ARRR!!!

and my weekend is finally here. which means not too much....have to finish cataloging/organizing my DVD collection (the copied ones). I couldn't find the DVD's from one TV show, but found it last night.

enjoying the fact that I now have a garage door opener as well. my neighbor had a key remove that he didn't use. we figured out how to program the garage...

so my neighbor told me today, in talking with his girlfriend's father, the father asked about my degrees. mentioning that I have degrees in counseling and school counseling, the father goes "Oh, really....I know 3 guys who have their private practice as psychiatrists....tell him to get me his resume and I'll pass them along."

time to see.....could pan out, one never knows!

so Thanksgiving has come and gone, I got to work Thursday from 12:30 PM to around 5 PM (when the store closed) and then Friday from 4 PM to 9:30 PM. means I missed dealing with my step-father's family...or missing out on the following:

cousin saying how she has no money...mind you, when I (helped) moved her (basically me, my step-father, and a friend of...

so just got rejected by RIT. when asked for feedback, it seemed to be the following combination:

1. "freshness" of examples. I've been out of the field over five years now. add to that the fact that I graduated in 2007 and still am job searching.

2. some of my examples and my presentation indicated I may not have been as good of a fit...

I wish I had some good advise, but I already gave up on what I wanted to do and plan on getting certified in something that I won't like as much and won't pay as well, but there are more jobs available and it won't kill me to do it. frown Maybe you could look for things that are similar, but different...like working with a community organization that could use a "Youth Counselor" or another private institution? I'm really sorry...

no news yet...time to check my mail and see if I have a letter. if not, I'm sending an e-mail to the Director that will basically go like this:

Dear Director (leaving his name out),

I was under the impression from when we spoke that a decision would be made last week regarding the position. I understand things were probably quite hectic (with the end...

we have a fan for white noise too. smile Right now I use melatonin and benadryl which can help (rarely) and I try to not drink coffee, soda or anything else with caffeine past about noon....I know for a fact that stress is making it worse, though insomnia has been a problem for me since puberty...and I have tried, er, physical activity but that will only make it worse if it's right before I try to sleep. Has there been any other suggestions that people found really worked in the group??

so woke up today with a sore throat and kind of stuffed up. yup...the dreaded cold. then checked the humidity levels in my bedroom (got a clock that does that).....its dry in my room. that time of year again...time to break out the humidifier!

whatever

Bleck! Make sure if you don't feel better in a few days that you go see a Doc! I know a ton of people who have had colds turn into crazy infections this year frown

....and still no word. since I was told by the end of this week....guessing its another in a line of rejections for jobs. hate how people keep telling me to stay positive....since December 2007, I have interviewed for and received the following job offers:

5 1/2 week long-term substitute position (where I was 1 of 2 candidates interviewing for the job)
substitute teaching position

outside...

Then you should have asked why you were passed over at the place you were a substitute teacher for. That would make me mad if a less qualified person got a job out from under me! I think emailing (or calling) the Director at this new place on Monday is a great idea and I hope they open up some more spots to give you even more of a chance! smile

btw, sorry if I broke a psychology group rule, I did tell someone they would make a lousy therapist... frown (I think with good reason) But I'll try to avoid that stuff in the future.

so far, no word from RIT. I thought I had a great interview, gave lots of concrete examples of how I can help, I was told I would hear back sometime this week...I'm taking this as another rejection in the long line of rejections I have experienced since job searching in 2007. really sucks that you apply and apply and apply (I've applied for jobs...

I'm all about getting rid of tax loopholes and making taxes an even % of income for everyone. Sorry you are still having a rough go of the job market, I've recently decided to back to school and finish the Vet Tech training I have since I see a whole lot of nothing in the Psychology field. frown If you haven't already, watch some Real Time with Bill Maher, when he talks about "job creators" it's just plain awesome smile
