its the two first tenents of buddhism. they've rung true for me as of late, and so i'm seriously considering becoming a buddhist (trying to get back into reading--starting off with the sacred texts of them guys).

we suffer because we want, and then when we get what we want, we aren't satisfied. it makes sense to me. kierkegaard defined unhappiness as something like constantly looking on the past with wanting, in full knowledge that it will never be again. well, i guess that would be despair rather than unhappiness...

idunno much about the religion, but its weird because the facts i do know about it come from western philosophy classes where at the end of the semester i came to some conclusion, brought it up in class, and the professor says "yeah, and thats alot like what buddhists believe..." and so i've been reading all this stuff and been going through the head slapping stage where i'm all like "NO SHIT!!! i've been saying this forever!!!!!" but, of course, they've been saying it for thousands of years.

but, yeah, i'm a ways from living on a grain of rice for months.

Ha! That's what i get for reading too much into things. Well, i eat pretty healthy. I'm not always very intentional about it, but i find when i eat heathy i just feel better. I think you'd notice the same if you kicked the dollar menu.

I assume you don't cook, but leftovers is a great way to eat better. And i know you can make a sandwich, right?

stay away from fast food. eat salads, don't eat sugar or white bread. sammiches on wheat are good for you. mexican food is better for you than you think. french fries are tastey, but horrible for you, both in terms of glycemic index and fat content.

and most importantly -- do as I say, not as I do.

It was so great to see you the other night! I agree with you about the therapeutic quality of dancing. All the girls told your woman how lucky she is that you like to! I'm not so sure about the polka and lederhosen, though.

I guess the type of music I really can't stand is country-pop or even most new country music. It's all twangy and cheesy. New Age is pretty bad, though; my brother got all of those "Pure Moods" cd's a while ago and we tease him mercilessly about it.

Polka is quite good. I've gotten down to it many times myself - must be the accordian.

I really don't like 99.7 fm. They always say new rock first and then play some STP song from 1994. Assholes.
