So my last post was like a year and a half ago, bet you can tell i enjoy blogging. Anyway i haven't really been much recently for a variety of reasons but I figured I should at least try look at it at least once a week.

I've been working on a super secret project. I'm not going to get into the specifics here however...

Last night I had the pleasure of going to see Spike and Mikes Sick & Twisted Animation festival at the Alamo Draft house. For those of you who don't live in Austin the Alamo is like a movie theater/restaurant. So while watching my toons I got to chow down on a nice sandwich.

Over all the show was great. There were a few cartoons that...

I want to go to the Spike and Mikes Sick & Twisted Animation Fest! I've wanted to go since before I was old enough. Now I'm definitely old enough, but none of my friends are into that, bummer. I don't want to go by myself either, that'd be lame.

So its been a while...

Anyway since the last time I posted I have visited San Francisco and I went to the SG burlesque. Those aren't the only things I did in the intervening months but they are possibly the most interesting, Who would really want to me talk about my job and school work?

So I was down in SF on business and at...

Merci beaucoup, buddy. Yeah, we're all cool over here. Everyone thinks we're crazy but we're cool.
Don't worry about your age. Get your degree, learn as much hebrew as you can and your computer skills and degrees will be invaluable to you. Code monkeys are in high demand here, High Tech is literally fuelling the economy. If your hebrew is decent and you have a computer engineering degree or computer science degree it shouldn't be a problem (provided you know your paycheck will be considerably smaller than it would be in the US).

As for the army, well if you want to do it and you push for it, you can do it. If you're good with a computer and have some hebrew there are some...special units...that are open to you. Age is a problem, I'm 23 and considered old, but again a friend in my brother's unit joined Golani when he was 36 years old. Jpost did an article on him, too. Like everything else here, its how you take it.

ah, yo comprendo. Still, if you have experience you should be ok. Off the top of my head I think several government orgs could use people like you.

Hebrew is always an issue. I hate learning languages too but ya gotta force yourself. I do it everyday, though I still wonder why english cant be the national language.

I say this over and over again but I really must update more often but I did have alot happen since last time.

I got free VIP tickets to see the Violent Femmes. I got them at the very last min. 4 hours before the concert so I ended up going with someone from work. It was a lot of fun even though I only...

Hey, I see you randomly on the boards and your icon intrigued me so I took a look.

It sucks that you've got food poisining. I hope you get better.

I live in DC, born and raised, and am studying political science at AU. If you ever feel the desire to have a good clean, intellectual debate without the terms "commie" and "stupid" being used send a message. It really is hard to find a debate like that on the boards.

Hey kids, it's time for Existentialism Corner
with Salome Suicide
Special guest: Godot

In a nutshell, this philosophy says that life itself is meaningless, and that it is up each person to create/find his own reason for living. That is, if there is no point to life, why not just stick your head in the oven? We obviously don't, so what makes us want to stay alive?

Write a short essay (length: one comment) on any of the following topics:

*Jean-Paul Sartre: "Hell is other people." Discuss. Observations from people with roommates are especially welcome.

*Simone de Beauvoir insists that an individual must experience one's own body both through your own point of view, and through someone else's point of view -- meaning you see your body as an object in someone else's viewpoint. Does this justify or excuse treating women like objects -- specifically, strippers enduring molestation and scorn to pay their rent?

*Kierkegaard said that a general, overwhelming sense of dread is a sign you need to get your shit togther and consciously decide why you want to continue living, what positive reasons you have for living. So when I don't want to get out of bed in the morning, can I say I'm searching for meaning, or do I just need some Xanax?

Well, kids, that's all the time we have for today. Essays are due by the next time I update my journal.

Oh, and Godot never showed up, that bastard. Typical.

You should put your Star of David near your heart or at the base of the nape of your neck. Its funny how life sucks the money out of you sometimes when you least expect it. biggrin

You know what is a bad idea? Turing off the power to stop lights. But that is exactly what happened here in Texas. For some crazy reason they ran this power test on a day it was going to be really hot. So they had to do rolling black outs so we didn't run out of power. Here is an idea, why don't you tell...

Did you know Apple Computer has a two year old patent on embedded camera-like sensor for LCD monitors. eeek Just found that shit out today. the sensors will be embedded in-between the LCD cells.

I didn't go to the Six Flags event either. which makes about the millionth time I've bailed on an event now. My bike got stuck in the shop until the middle of next week instead of Friday like it was supposed to and ended up costing more than I thought. oh well.

I could never be a cop.

Yet again I fail to update this page

Anyway I was in NY last week for my birthday. It was a good time. Well as good a time as you can have with your parents. I think though that I have become soft because I was really cold there. That isn't like me but I have been living in Texas for almost a year and...

Thanks for the advice!! Don't be too bummed out about the being responsible thing. It might be rough going sometimes but it's a good thing. Really.

I was talking to a friend the other day about how the guy who has a job as a bartender at age 21 is always cool to his friends and meets a lot of women, etc. He drives a sporty car, is handsome and stylish, and gets to live his life being mostly self indulgent. Then one day he's 29 and he's still a bartender and his friends all have health insurance, steady relationships, etc. He's still living on tips and his sporty car is now 8 years old, the women are a bit more mature and want to spend time with him after work but he can't because of his hours, etc.

So (not that this is in any way YOU) eventually life moves on and we need to be prepared and grow with it. If not we're left behind. The really important things might not be having a boring job or a stable girlfriend or a nice home but they all come together and make life easier.

I think it's great you're going to school and wish I could do it right now too. Unfortunately I have too many financial obligations to take the time but I plan on it w/in the next five years.

wink
