Haven't been on here much in the past several days.
I received my new camera finally on Saturday. That makes me happy. Now I need to be getting in the habit of using it anytime/all the time. I usually carry my cameras with me. I just need to take the opportunity when it arises to capture those moments that capture me, if only briefly.
I also was given the last ingredient I needed for my gumbo. Can't get it here. Hard to find outside of the southern states sometimes. Gave a couple of bottoms of the spice to a friend whose wife brought me my favorite cajun spice blend back from the States. I'll make a huge pot of Gumbo on Saturday for our party. Everyone's invited.
So found out that I'm being extended here until mid-May now. Wavering on how I feel about that. It'll allow me to bank some more money but I'm just ready to go home. And now I want to stay until the start of June to meet the IRS foreign presence requirements so that I can get back all my taxes for the 11 months that I'll have been here. I think it'll happen.

i guess it figures that they don't have file (i was just seeing if that was indeed what you were missing) there...
i totally know tony's! i hope they brought you the BIG (box?, bottle?, cylinder?, what do you call those things?) CONTAINER
i've used it lots for everything, too... it's super yummy on red potatoes!

but i found over the weekend that red potatoes aren't so good for baking with garlic as they are for dill or rosemary. maybe roasting the garlic first would've lended better to the red potato sweetness.

i would think that you'd have a good selection of meat/seafood there... hrm... that's surprising.

i feel the same way about food/cooking - i do believe it's an art, but i really do think it's a science, as well, what with all the timing and chemical reactions, etc. i wanted to be a chef for a long time but i've changed my mind and will do something different first and then return to the culinary art thing. i love to cook for much the same reason you mentioned... everyone eats. i think food often brings people together and it's nice seeing everyone pleased and tummies filled.
the person i shared that meal with was very appreciative and that MADE IT for me.
i had fixed that couscous, and then found (as i often do) that i wasn't even hungry - it's true, what you said... between the aroma and the absolute enthrallment of creating a meal, i lost my actual appetite.
i took the food as far as i could without actually preparing for service and packed it up to take to his house. i felt lucky to have some downtime and a couple glasses of wine before the meal was ready - besides that, the mushrooms i made for appetizers were actually good for appetizing me (haha)... i'd forgotten that i really needed to eat, i was almost worn out and i'd been looking at the food all day, you know?! ... yeah, you know.

i'm living with my mom right now and paying off my debt. i am SO happy that you two can use the stashed funds to get out of yours... it's such a fucking prison.

thank you for what you said about smiling while reading my entry. that was nice.
(apologies for this massive rant - i had no idea it would go this far!)

happy day, fishio
