It's peculiar: When I read other people's blogs, I am reminded that no matter what challenges I am facing, there is always someone out there facing down something far worse. I count myself as extraordinarily fortunate. I've never broken a bone (although I've dislocated a couple), I have a steady job, my health is good, and although I could definitely use more money, I'm not in the dire straits that so many people seem to be in.

Things are what you make of them, or at least it seems to me. Sure, SG is a site focused on naked girls with tattoos and/or piercings, but I have chosen to make it a platform to make new friends. I've been successful so far, and since some of my new friends are Latinas, I've decided that I'll finally learn Spanish. I took Latin in high school and French in college, but I've always been surrounded by people who spoke Spanish, especially in Albuquerque and Los Angeles. So it's about time I learned Espanol.

I only have one more day of work this week, then it's off to Portland for the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival and Chthulhucon. When I go to large cities, it's usually to attend rock concerts; this time it's a convention at a large movie theater. Well, here's to something different!
