Many thanks to @juicyvonmary for tagging me to reply to this intriguing question: “What is Rock ‘n’ Roll for you? “ I hope that the Powers That Pink pick up on this topic as more and more members, Hopefuls and SGs post their responses, and that they make it a blog homework topic. This question, while seeming to be mundane and common at first, is actually quite intimate. Rock music, for those who truly appreciate it, is the soundtrack to their lives. Choosing one song to represent how that feels for you, and matching it to a single photo, might be easy for some, but for me, it’s like asking me to tell you about my favorite sexual experience and the color of my panties while we’re sitting next to each other on the train or at a crowded table at a bar. Rock ‘n’ Roll is so much part of my life, it’s as close to me as my favorite lingerie.
So: it’s impossible for me to choose a single artist to represent all of what Rock is for me, BUT, there is one artist and one song that exemplifies how live Rock music feels, and that song is: ROCK SHOW by Halestorm. The photo shown here was drawn from the end of a live performance of the song, with Lzzy Hale raising her horns, acknowledging the roots of Heavy Metal in Rock and embodying the presence of empowered women on the stage at the same time.
Am I serious, or am I exaggerating? Let’s put it this way, baby: my studio apartment is LITERALLY a recording studio, and the view from my sofa is my sound stage where my instruments await my efforts to bring the essence of Rock to life right NOW.
