Surfing the web has long been my time consumer of choice, but recent advances in browser efficiency (i.e. setting up all my webcomics to open with a single click) were putting the kibosh on that. My newest pseudo-intellectual time waster: Surfing wikipedia. Roaming from link ot link is a surprisingly fulfilling way to pass the time.

Yep, me too. I used to do that with the print encyclopedia when I was a kid---endlessly hyperlinking from volume to volume whenever I saw a term in boldface (or whatever typographic clue was used to indicate the existence of an entry)---so doing it online too is irresistable. I can still smell those big, heavy, brown-leather-bound World Books.

Yes, that's part-cause of the inconsistency for me too. For some people, cooking is their only chance to be scientific; for me, it's a chance to be artistic. I don't respect recipes, approved flavor combinations, or exact quantities (except sometimes in baking, where there's no point in putting so much effort into it if your bread is going to fail to rise and come out with the density of a neutron star).
