Pouring rain today. When will it ever stop? (I like it, but the list of things that need doing outside [and are easier done when it's dry] is growing.) I'm having trouble adapting to my new work/school schedule. Slept way too long last night and woke up depressed because of it, then realized I no longer had time to work out and was even more...

I like to read novels, but I don't usually understand them. My life definitely isn't a novel: it's a discontinuous series of short stories with only vague thematic connections among them. So why do I feel guilty posting a list of random observations and events here, instead of an essay with a beginning, middle, and end? I've done the latter now and then, but I...

I have never had crystallized ginger. Sounds like heaven.

I want some candied rose petals.

Great idea for the eBay-ing of shtuff. I was a major league packrat, but I've now moved uh...7? times in the last 8 years, and so I've come into the habit of throwing out/giving to goodwill about half of everything I own/have packrat-ed away about every 6 months. It's a very hard habit to break, but you have the power. wink

And I thought I was the only one who had weird dreams. VERY resourceful! I genuinely laughed out loud after reading that, b/c I could so see myself doing that out of desperation when sick.

Yup, school's back in, and I'm happy. Come see my cat, he's the best cat eveh!

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." That's the only Dickens I know, an embarrassing fact to admit for someone who was an English major for the first two years of college. Maybe I should sit down with the old fart and get acquainted. The sentiment just quotated certainly does describe pretty well how the past few months have gone...

Is that a sudden realization? I would tell you the same, except of course, I have no idea.

Nonetheless, you're groovy. wink

I got home from running some errands and immediately noticed a huge plume of heavy, acrid smoke blowing from the chimney of the friendly neighborhood meth house down the street, making me cough and my eyes water. I called the police non-emergency number, figuring the authorities would want to come take a look and try to catch the tweakers in the act of burning toxic...

I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's gray and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday I'm in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday, break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love

Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate

I don't care if Monday's black
Tuesday, Wednesday, heart attack
Thursday, never...

I guess the worst part about my cat is that she gets really sick... hiding under beds for days & not eating, drinking, peeing, etc & then she snaps out of it. This time just seems so much worse because of the ears going all purple & moving towards gangren possibly, & her tail is all cold & listless. She seems in pain, but too tired to complain. I don't know if it is one of her phases of illnesses or if she will really die this time... she definately has MORE then 9 lives.

It is really hard to go through this over & over, month after month, year after year. It is tiring.

But, it is like me... sick, then well, then sick... don't they say pets are really like their owners or something? Yeah, it is true. whatever

I was saddened a few days ago to read that the British automotive journalist Leonard John Kensell Setright died on September 7.

Setright was a personal hero for me---a proud generalist in a sea of specialists. He was an exponent of an earlier generation of journalists, and people in general, for whom a broad education in the liberal arts was not just a prerequisite to...

Edit: OK, things are looking up just a little bit. I found a site with Cure ringtones that are compatible with my phone. Now I've got it playing "Homesick" for incoming calls, "Letter to Elise" for voicemail, and "Lullaby" for texts. biggrin

I'm sad I had to leave. I'm glad I have you and Brian out there in the field though, collecting the necessary info and laying the groundwork.

I'm glad you introduced me to Brian cause he is so nice (he waited all that time with me at the bus stop!). Too bad my social-anxiety is of the lobotomizing variety or I would've actually had a conversation with you. I never would have flirted with you if I knew I'd have to look you in the face one day! It is just my luck that the first guy I openly ogle in a thread happens to live right around the corner from me. confused

You will like the stories at gaslight , I bet.

A question for all cocktail waitresses, bartending school dropouts, and drunkards out there: Is there already a name for a drink like a White Russian, but made with Frangelico instead of Kahlua? Or did I just invent something new and wonderful?

torihoney:
i think you should name it so that we can order it in a bar and then act put upon when the bartender doesn't know what it is. 'you mean you haven't heard of ____? Where did you get your certification, Friday's?

Good hike today. I'll get back in shape yet.

I love my new 5.11 Tactical Pants. So many pockets! I'm such a hopeless nerd.
