No, I don't update that often. Get used to it.
I've been busy with school, work, life, friends, and various tugs at my agenda. School is going well. Work is too intermittent to call it a real job. Life is fairly average at this point. My friends are a variety of quandaries and celebrations. I've been doing my best to resist an urge to stay in my room when I'm not in school.
The one thing reminding me of who I used to be and how excited I used to get over things is this upcoming trip to Canada. An old friend who I haven't seen since I was active with the SCA (two years ago...wow), has planned a wonderful four-day trip that involves:
1) Us seeing each other again
2) Two dance practices - one in Ann Arbor with more old friends and one in Toronto
3) A stop at Casa Loma (a REAL castle) in Toronto. www.casaloma.org for more info
4) An SCA dance event that I've always enjoyed.
5) Socializing with lots of old friends in Canada
6) Seeing HIM. I mention this twice because there's a lot of sordid history. No, we aren't going to hook up. That's so NOT in my picture right now. I just love and adore him and missed him. There's another HIM that we're going to see while at the event (and at the post-event party), but I didn't miss him as much.
I haven't been this excited about something in almost a year (the last time being a fun trip to Chicago during Spring Break). It's refreshing but scary. I've been doing really well staying away from people and emotions and Scary Situations and putting a huge barricade around my heart. I don't WANT to just let go and have fun and enjoy myself. I know that sounds stupid, but it keeps me safe from disappointment and the inevitable downer when the trip is over and I don't see those people for another year.
