My next boyfriend:
1) Will want to have his picture taken with me and will be happy about it.
2) Will not be involved with anyone else. I'm tired of being the person someone 'really wishes they'd met before they met [their] S.O.'
3) Will want to slow dance with me at weddings. You get bonus points for being one of those guys who likes to dance to everything. Double bonus points if you like to do crazy stuff like ballroom dancing to industrial music.
4) Will like to cuddle... not all the time, but at least once in a while.
5) Will not be afraid to compliment me and tell me he loves me.
6) Will know how to cook, or at least be willing to learn.
7) Will be able to argue about and share great literature with me. Since this is not the only stuff I read, he should also be willing to argue the merits of cheesy vampire novels and Terry Pratchett books.
8) Will be ready to be involved with me, not scared and distant.
9) Will like cats, or at least like them enough to let my cat sit on his lap since my cat is der uber-slut.
10) We don't need to see each other every day, but a "hello" while online or through email is appreciated. If my friends can manage this, so can you.
11) Will allow me to drive on long trips since I get carsick and antsy when I'm in the passenger seat. I would love it, however, if you would drive when we're going to a party or just out for the evening. I'm old-fashioned at heart, and I like feeling like "someone's girl".
12) Will be able to communicate what is on his mind. I'm an excellent listener and hugely empathic, but I can't be expected to know how to handle something if you don't tell me. My behavior toward you when you're upset or distant cannot be blamed if you haven't told me what you need from me. Once you tell me, I'm happy to oblige, whether it's a hug and advice or my leaving you alone for a day or two.
13) Will want to have sex at least once every couple of days and will act like he can't wait to touch me.
14) Will love movies of all genres and won't be afraid to suggest what we go to see or what we rent for the evening.
15) Won't be afraid to pick a restaurant or what we do that night. I like assertive people.
16) Will have at least some college completed, if not a degree. If you got some super-cool job after high school that didn't require a degree, then that's fine, as long as you're as intelligent as me. I find it hard to date someone who won't understand half the stuff I talk about. I'm sorry if that's bitchy, but I won't date someone I can't talk to for hours.
17) Will love big cities. I can't live in a town smaller than 500,000 people. Bonus points if you're up for moving to Chicago. I need culture, vibrancy, and a sea of people to get lost in.

20) Will like all kinds of music, with the exception of that whiny emo crap, new punk that all sounds the same, and whiny country. Bonus points if you like swing, classical, big band, oldies, Celtic, and/or new wave.

Note - some of these are negotiable. I'm good at compromise. I was just responding to a query from someone who wanted to know what I wanted at a base level. I rarely ever find someone who fits every little thing, and that's fine. Attraction has no boundaries.
