One of my best friends just called to say he made it to Colorado safely. (He's the one I spent the weekend with).
I'm really excited and happy for him, but I'm still a bit sad. I was choking back tears when I hung up.
I used to see him at every SCA event I attended, and we often went goth-clubbing together. It's going to be weird going to SCA events and not dancing with him, or going to City Club and not calling him on the way to Detroit.
He took me to my brother's wedding a couple of years ago. He styled my hair when the salon messed it up and took a bunch of professional candid pictures at the wedding once he found out my brother could only afford to pay the photographer for ceremony pictures. It didn't even occur to him that he was doing a good deed because that's just the kind of guy he is. My parents adored him, and my dad even invited him to go hunting this year.
Every so often, a person comes into your life and affects it more than you could ever imagine. It's sad that you don't often realize this until they aren't around as much.

hey. i saw you were up, so i thought i'd say "hey." it's been a while. but i had fun reading about your holidays. i just had a friend leave for Guatemala where he has been living for three years. He visits his family during the holidays. Every year I realize how much his presence adds to my life, and then *el poof* el esta en Guatemala. Hay dios!
