Since I'm leaving for Caro tomorrow morning, I figured I should write this now.
I always use the last day of the year to write sort of a Year in Review. It never fails to amaze me when I look back and see how much happened in what feels like such a short amount of time. It also helps to put a lot of things into perspective.
Not much happened in the first part of the year. I joined SG on 4 January, turned 26 on 9 January, and moved into a horrible situation at the end of February.
This prompted the month-long escape to my parents' house in June. While there, I got bored one night and started looking for people online. That's when I met Ken.
I drove to Caro to meet him two days later, and you all know what happened from there.
I completed a successful year of college, and I'm almost finished.
Little snags popped up, but my maturity showed when I realized I don't freak out about things like I did when I was younger.
The breakup was harder when I knew it was coming up all those months, but once it happened I was fine. It's like something that was twisted deep inside of me finally loosened and allowed me to rest peacefully. Talk about making the right decision...
I reconnected with several friends I hadn't seen in anywhere from two to ten years. Each reunion was wonderful and fun, and it's good to have these people back in my life.
I've met many MANY fabulous people on SG, which prompted a few real-life meetings. I'm hoping to meet some of the long-distance people someday. I really want to be the person who gives Spike his first glimpse of America, and I'm dying to go dancing with Trilobyte.
My mother's health has gotten worse. No surprise there. I've been dealing with this since 1995. It's not easy, but I've reached a certain level of acceptance.
I've finally made plans for my post-graduate years. I'm going to move back to Ann Arbor (close friends won't be shocked by that final decision) and apply to graduate school at Eastern. They have a wonderul Literature program, but it only goes up to an MA, so I'll, hopefully, do my doctorate work at UM or Wayne State.
I have many friends there who are waiting for me to return, along with a couple of friends who plan to move there in the next two years or so. The company I work for is based there (and that's where I started), so I pretty much have a guaranteed in-house position once I return. I'll also be in the SCA full-time again, hopefully with my old officer position, so that will account for a TON of my social time.
This next year promises to be pretty damn spiffy. I'm graduating next December, and I already have many fun plans for the next few months. I'm also going to (finally) drop all the weight I've gained since my roommate and I can use the campus gym for free. We've already made it a point to drag each other there on two specified days per week, and I'm going to keep teaching dance (as usual).
I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year!

I may write a Year In Review thing. It won't make for very light and fun reading I imagine. Gnah.
