Can I just tell you how fucking awesome I feel right now?
No?
Well, TOO BAD.
My friend, Josh, who lives in Ann Arbor, called me around 2:00 PM and asked if I'd come help him fix his stupid car. I showed up, installed a new battery, and watched as he danced in the middle of the K-Mart parking lot. I laughed until he swept me into his little waltz, and then I laughed more.
Fucking freak.
Anyway, he told me he'd give me a treat as a reward, seeing how I missed Ann Arbor more than I realized. He called his wife and told her to meet us at my favourite restaurant. We chowed down for free as Josh was still in a whimsical mood and whipped out the plastic.
She'd had a really crappy day, so we all put on swimsuits (I borrowed one of hers) and went out to their OUTDOOR HOT TUB.
Josh brought out some wine, and we just relaxed and listened to Cruxshadows. I'd never been in a real hot tub, and theirs has a wooden privacy fence. It was amazing. They have little lights on the fence and places for candles. He said it's great when it snows. I'm so jealous.
We talked and talked and talked, and they participated in my excitement about moving back to Ann Arbor after graduation. I even found out one of my friends, who'd "left me" for reasons WAY too complex to explain, may be back in my life. I tried to call him on my way out of town, but his number had been disconnected.
As I was leaving town, another good friend from the area returned my voice mail, so I turned the car around and picked him up for a quick snack at our favourite coney place. Now I'm sitting in his basement arguing about which movie we're going to watch before I leave town. The funniest thing is that I used to live here, so it's weird walking around as a "guest".
It's good to be home.
