This is totally messed up.
I often have lucid dreams, and they often come true in one way or another, but this is just messed up.
A little over a week ago, I had a dream where I was on Western's campus near the parking structure. For some reason the Amtrak line ran through that area of campus instead of a half-mile away near Howard. (You can see the train and stuff from campus... it just doesn't run THROUGH campus in that area).
Anyway, I was watching it come around a bend, and I was thinking, "Oh my god... it's going to derail." Sure enough, it derailed, and I thought, "I'm glad I wasn't near it."
Tonight, Jessica and I needed to return the DVDs we rented, so we went to the video store and returned through campus as usual. I missed my turn onto Oliver, so I had to go up a bit. This takes us by the train tracks.
As we came up that way, we saw four police cars with their lights going, and they had part of the area blocked. We had to detour back around, and I noticed that Lovell (a main road) was blocked by a train that was simply stopped. When we came back around, we saw that the railroad crossing arm was twisted, and two smashed cars were by the side of the road. Luckily, the damage wasn't too bad, and it looked like the drivers would have escaped with minor injuries, but it was still freaky to see that train stopped there.
If they'd been at the next intersection, the train would have been going 55-60 mph. By the time it gets to that area of Lovell, it's slowing down for the train station and is only going about 35 mph.
I thought that dream was a bit fucked up, but my god... who would have thought?
