I really hate being wrong. I'll ADMIT when I'm wrong, but I still don't like it.
I got a huge taste of that tonight.
I got email from someone who I haven't been on good terms (or even speaking terms) with for a couple of months. We have a history, so to speak.
I hesitated to open it because I was SURE it would be filled with nasty bits that would upset me and ruin my night. But, because I'm a curious animal by nature, I opened it.
No harsh words. No snarky comments. No insults.
It was civil, apologetic, and actually kind of amusing near the end.
We aren't really friends again, but I'm hoping this is the end to the passive-aggressive fighting. He pointed out some things he had issues with, and I took note and promised to work on them. (See what I mean about admitting if I'm wrong?)
I'm not sure what happens from here. I'd like to think that we've wished each other well and said our final goodbyes and so on and so forth, but I still feel so incomplete. When someone has been part of your life - an integral part of your life - for so many years, it's hard to just part ways. He taught me a lot about life and love and who I am and who I need to be... I just hate that I grew up about a year too late.
