It is amazing what a hot shower and heavy-duty housecleaning can do for one's mood.
My bestest friend from childhood is coming to help me pack and move boxes this weekend. I've already packed most of the boxes since I know we'll do a lot more talking and laughing than box-packing. We've known each other since sixth grade, and our friendship has remained the same...

I'm pretty sure I've fucked up for good this time, and it may have resulted in the loss of yet another of my best friends. It's all my fault, and there's no way to undo it or make it better.
I think. I don't know. I'm so confused. I asked if I could buy him dinner as an apology and didn't get much of a...

Holy crap you're an underdogger, no wonder you have trouble with real life. Cubs and the brewers, I mean I picked the jays cause they're the only decent pro canadian team, but c'mon I'm a patriot; but only so far when it comes to pro sports.

Yes I forgot my smiley which would have indicated a measure of sarcasm, I'm also a cubs fan for the unlikely reason that they've been in the hole so long but what are you gonna do, when it comes to picking faves?

That was a short-lived break. I fell asleep watching a Muppet movie, and now I feel a bit better. I remembered that I wanted to post this.
I was the only person to get a 100% on the Linguistics assignment. Like, ever.
I got an A+ on my Charlotte Bronte presentation, along with a ton of nice commentary from the teacher and students.

A + + +! Keep adding the +es.
Did you ever see the film Career Girls? I was just reminded of the "Mizz Bronte, Mizz Bronte..." thing by yr presentation topic. I haven't read the Brontes yet, but I think they're foxy as heck. I think I'm capable of reading them now. When I was a younger, it was pretty much Hunter Thompson, Michael Moorcock-- "extreme fiction", for lack of a better term. Nowadays, I like reading about regular people: Laurie Colwin, Maeve Binchy, Gordon Legge (and various Scots), and I read Washington Square about a year ago....not impressive to an English major, sure, but hey-- it's not Sidney Sheldon...
bonus ps- I really like The Lilac Bus. I got Quentins for Xmas but haven't read it. I got Juno And Juliet for Xmas too, but I quit on it after few chapters; it seemed like wannabe-Binchy to me...

After nine months of intense study, I have concluded that no, exes cannot be friends just the way they were before the relationship.
There's no way to pretend you never felt love or attraction for someone, no matter how hard you try. You can't erase the memories, just because you don't want to remember. You can't pretend that a particular date isn't significant. Even if...

I can only speak for my last relationship, me analyzing me, so here goes:
Since the main reason for most breakups, I'm guessing, is because the other stopped liking your personality as much, it's no wonder it's hard to stay friends. I would guess falling out of love physically doesn't happen as often as mentally.
I think there's also a natural thing of "letdown". The two of us have gotten as close as possible (without, you know, marriage or kids), now we're SCALING IT BACK, and it's just...a letdown. It's not even that one isn't getting sex anymore; that would be shallow. It's just that the relationship is...downgraded...and one isn't sure how far up in intimacy (forget physically, I mean merely conversationally and in personal revelation) one can/should go.
If you can stay interested in each other despite differences (in personality, taste, whatever), you're okay. In my case, I felt my differences were being held up as bad things, and it made me feel like garbage. if a person's slighting you, though, that's garbage.
It's February. Are there still spring classes left?? Do you mean, like, next year?
I was thinking about asking if anyone had watched Red Dwarf on the boards. I watched it for a few years, but I seemed to have missed a lot, as it's been on (Maryland Public TV) for several more years now.

Okay...final decision, with the help of MisterSatan (i.e. "the Cos")
Sorcha is the Scottish equivalent of Sarah. Since Sarah was taken, I'm going with this. I quite like it.

Okay... so do I change my name to Lillith or Star? This is in the interest of a possible SG set (or SG-style set for a portfolio) once I get my body back in shape.

You mentioned the two peninsulas of Michigan; they don't get along, isn't that right? Got a competition thing going on?
edit ps - Hey, feel free to take over my journal! It could use some work...and I like to learn these sorta unlearnables; you know, people aren't often gonna do books, or news stories, about the REAL rivalries and cultural/sociological shading terratorially in the USA (well, some universities might occasionally put out the books, but I won't see 'em).

I've had a really good day so far. I woke up late but managed to catch the bus just in time. It wasn't quite as cold as it's been (which isn't saying much... I still had to dress like an Eskimo).
We got into a really good debate in my Women in Lit class. It ended up with myself, Beth, and Jason against the rest...

My paper is finished! I'm amused because I ended up going two pages over the limit Feh. Thank goodness I'm good at this editing thing.
It's 1:40 AM, and I need to get to bed. I'm trying to get myself onto a more normal sleeping schedule. I can't keep going to class like a zombie, especially since my first class is at NOON every day....

I really need to shut everything down and just absorb the Shakespearean dialogue.
It's hard to believe I'm only going to be in this apartment for two more weeks. Wow.

That's so sad... 8 years ago there was a good show to see every weekend, no matter what kind of music you liked. My band toys with the idea of taking a show at the Soda every once in a while for old time's sake... We'll see.
