The one thing that stood out in ur entry is the "indulged in drugs and sexual deviation" comment. I have wondered where I would be if I did not follow that path myself. Perhaps I would have got my mfa and would be teaching art to a bunch of wannabees or maybe I d have a house mortgage wifie kiddies and tonnes of debt.

Perhaps the choices we made years ago were meant to be and although where we are now is a result maybe its not a bad place if you consider the alternatives. I have to speak for myself of course. Sounds like your taking forward steps which is great. For me though I still wonder what it would be like making 100k+ a year

And I wish my friggin lawyer would phone me to tell me if I really did screw up a decade ago!

In many ways we are all that old woman, and all the children. True enough I can walk to a super market with an outlandish even gaudy amount of food in it, and yet as a youth I often went hungry, and my mother took from refuse to feed. You account is a touching one, but not in a place most like to think about. Suffer though we do, we continue on, and are happy with what we can find.

Americans suffer a interesting malady of thinking the wealth our nation contains, and the influence it wields allows us a special place among all people. Truth is we are as likely to generate our own suffering as to bestow it explosively on others. I could go on for hours.

Oh jeez, you crack me up. Your photos are the liveliest things in my journal! That's one hell of a story there. I enjoyed that.

it takes strength to wear some scars, and strength still more to know how to love them. I love this story, every word, and I don't want to imagine not having read it.

I'm going to be thinking about this one for days, looking to explain to people what I've read, but it won't mean anything to them, and so I'll stay silent, and smile at myself, and think about it some more.

I've spent the last three years feeling so beaten down and aging and lost.

aha - i can totally relate to that.... i feel like i have been put through the ringer so to speak at different times in my life and i think that the past year has been something of that nature...... i have lost focus in school - life - what my goals are anymore - whether or not i will ever find love again - blah blah blah.

of course the plus side to this is that i feel i am coming out of that funk - so that is good. i now have motivation to finish some projects that i started over 2 years ago - i am going to go for a BFA - and might even change schools to find a better art program - i have been meeting some new people - finally - going out more and socializing (which can be good ar bad depending) and just overall been dealing with some of the demons that have been haunting me.

sounds like you met a great person - never take them for granted - those good people that come into our lives.

Well if they are easy i must be a complete moron...No bass, and no trout. One bite all day and i was half asleep when it happened so of course i missed it. But at least im building up on a nice little tan....although maybe I shouldn't be wearing sun glasses all day...

The word raincheck has such negative connotations for me...my mom was the queen of rainchecks. She'd get them for stuff she didn't want, as long as it was on sale she bought it. Who knows, maybe serendipity will find a way for you down here sooner

yep...almost bought my first pair o' Doc Martens' (didn't); saw this slight hyper black guy at Rock Garden (Terrence Trent D'Arby before he became famous and then un-famous); learned all about John Peel, Arsenal and Chelsea; got a taste for what dance culture REALLY is (still love it); met, romanced, left a girl from Oxfordshire who was a friend of a friend (fell for the Silk Cuts and smoky accent); became not just a man but a man of the world.
