I woke up this morning with a feeling of overwhelming sadness. I think my brain chemicals are out of whack again. I've pulled myself out of bed, and I'm going to attempt to work out. In fact, I'll continue this when I've finished working out.
...Back, feeling quite a bit better. Fed the guinea pigs (man, do they like carrot tops). Made lunch (mixed greens...

So I'm going to see Surly in October and we're going to visit his family in Hawaii for a week. Then at the end of October I'm coming out to LA to visit for the halloween weekend. Halloween is like Christmas for my puffin.

Someone from work gave me a book today, which she says she found in airport bathroom in Ottawa. On the front cover is a yellow sticky which reads:
I'm FREE! I'm not lost! Please pick me up, read me, and help me with my journey! (see inside)
Inside is a bookplate indicating that a lady in Ottawa had sent the book out to be circulated...

I've been watching a lot horror movies lately. I'll qualify that, I've been watching a lot of BAD horror movies lately, including White Noise, Hide and Seek, and The Grudge. I would like to point out that none of these were my picks. I did pick out and watch The Changeling, a seminal horror movie from the '70s, and was amused...

If you like Bill Murray a lot, then you'll like it, I'm sure. I heard a guy complaining to his friends leaving the theater (he sounded like a normal-type-movie loving guy... not like a Jarmusch fan) that he couldn't understand why women in the movie were into Bill's character, as he was "so boring". The response I had in my head was, "Yeah.... but he's Bill fuckin Murray."
The last horror movie I was watching was 28 Days Later. I watched about 1/2 hour of it, then stopped because it seemed the movie only had two possible directions: 1) total bleak-ness, or 2) ridiculous happy ending. Watching the events of the first 30 min. unfold, it seemed there was no other alternative.

I spent all day yesterday playing my rolemaster pen and paper game AND Axis and Allies. I played the USA, and I got my ass whooped by the Japanese. Damned japanese naval power... and air power... and just general whoopassedness. *sigh* Apparently I need to work on my strategy game skills.
You may remember me mentioning my weekly rolemaster game before. I thought you...

There comes a time in a person's life when they realize they finally have to do this one thing that for lack of care, or perhaps fear, they have not done yet. To that end, I am now perusing the fair site of the manitoba public insurance agency. More specifically I'm reading the driver's handbook in preparation for taking my beginner's license.

Crossbuck? You Canadians are weird. And hot.
Good luck with your driving lessons! I'm sure you will do fine. And if not, you can take solace in the knowledge that no matter how poorly you drive, I am worse, I promise you.

It's Surly's birthday today, and despite my best efforts, I'm not there to share it with him.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!

remuemenage:
Not till we are completely lost, or turned around, - for a man needs only to be turned around once with his eyes shut in this world to be lost, - do we appreciate the vastness and strangeness of Nature. Every man (woman) has to learn the points of the compas again as often as he awakes, whether from sleep or any abstraction. Not till we are lost, in other words, not till we have lost the world, do we begin to find ourselves, and realize the infinite extent of our relations.

I like Thoreau - and have only read "Walden" and "Civil Disobediance"
he is more practical and less preachy than Emerson

My mom took me out for Indian food last night, and while we were out she told me a fanciful tale which I assumed was an urban legend. Checking up on it today, I find out it's absolutely true.

So, it's about 45 degrees centigrade hotter than hell here today. I think for you americans, the humidex rates it at 116 with humidity. 90 degrees without factoring humidity. I'm currently sitting at my computer, melting... slowly.

Sadly, there is not time to do everything. It's easy to feel cheated, isn't it?
That's a really vivid dream. I really like the setup of it, it almost seems like something you would see in a movie where they slow the reel down and overexpose the colors. Slow, bright, vivid..angelic aura, unsure language.
Yes, I quite like that.
