Andres Segovia is the shit.

That is all.

You are my hero for quitting smoking, I wish I could be a cute chick giving you some encouragement but oh well.

In honor of my quitting smoking (11 days now), I am reposting a story I wrote in 2007 about how hard it is to quit smoking - and now I finally did it!

Ms. Cigarette saw me first. I was no more than seven years old and was camping with my family (very in vogue in the midwest at that time to own a camper)....

Beauty is impossible
Driving us to madness
We are in awe, as if at an exhibit
Always just out of reach
The persistent illusion.

I get a feeling
From the walls and chairs
They tell me of the things that
Have always been there
And all that is not
Will have to go back to dust

Haha, maybe we do =)

I just feel I have changed physically... I'm pretty much the same person, maybe I have a better grip on who I am these days. I should post a comparison photo.

No Smoking, Day Seven:

* Did the alcohol test again last night, seems to work fine. However, I was at a bar/restaurant that was serving some rather delicious-smelling steaks. For some reason, that smell made me crave a smoke much more than drinking alcohol did.

* Otherwise, I feel fine this morning! Really!

This will be my final blog about this - at least in...

No Smoking, Day Six:

* I promise, tomorrow will be the last day (at least, in a row) that I write about this.

* Still can't sleep through the night. What dreams I have are tumultuous.

* Avoided a bar night with friends last night....felt like I was gonna cave.

I've had all sorts of advice on medications...anyone have an experience with Chantix?

Keep your...

It will get easier .. hang on.

I think I am going to go light with my hair. I loved the red, but it wouldn't stay in my hair, I would have to redo it every 3 weeks to keep the colour, and I would rather not kill my hair! I am getting it done friday, so we will see what happens!

No Smoking, Day Five:

* The worst part of this is lack of sleep. I assume my body is waking me in the middle of the night craving nicotine, which it never did before. I'd really like to sleep through the night.

* The best part of this is all the fantastic support you have given me. I look forward to coming home from work...

Kudos to you for the quit smoking thing. I've had a close friend tell me that kicking cocaine was easier than kicking nicotine so hang tough. If you've made it five days, you can definitely make it six, or seven, or ten!!!

And try the bourbon thing too. Not a bad idea, if I do say so myself.

I caved lastnight frown With the smoking. Slap me!

No smoking, Day Four:

* My hands smell like soap and not cigarettes.

* It is still incredibly hard to concentrate.

* I have decided to fill the time that I used to use smoking by.....looking at this website. smile

* I am not dizzy any more. This is good.

Is it possible that the worst of it may be over? I doubt it but I...

No smoking, Day Three:

* Neurons firing overtime. I think my whole body is twitching.

* There's a kind of glaze over my eyes.

* Woke up several times during the night with fitful dreams.

* Dreading going to work and having to concentrate.

* Urge to knock somebody over.

I am so happy to have positive comments. I know it sounds silly but quitting...

No smoking, Day Two:

* I am jonesing.

* I am experiencing the typical "there's something missing" feeling.

* Trying to meet those "smoking moments" (post-meals, in the car, etc.) head on.

* Still a little dizzy.

* I can already smell and taste better.

That's right, I taste better.

Keep up with the positive encouragement my friends, it does help me!
