My my, at Waterloo Napoleon did surrender.
Oh yeah, and I have met my destiny in quite a similar way.
The History book on the shelf
Is always repeating itself.
Thank you, ABBA, for reminding us that on this day in 1815 Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo. This basically ended Napoleon's political career.

Getting into the spirit for the car show this weekend, I will continue with the second half of my two-part Springsteen journal.
Yesterday's lyrics were more the "stay and rot" sort, so today it's "escape and burn."
In the day we sweat it out on the streets of a runaway American dream.
At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines.

Don't you run back inside,
Darlin' you know just what I'm here for.
So you're scared and you're thinking
That maybe we ain't that young anymore.
Show a little faith, there's magic in the night
You can either stay and rot, or you can escape and burn.
Argh! They started operating heavy machinery in my neighborhood at 7:30 in the morning. Isn't that illegal or...

On one hand, change scares the hell out of me. I resist it at all costs and I get really upset and disoriented when it happens without me. On the other hand, I crave it, in big ways. So, I don't know. But in this case it's probably on the sad side. Melancholy, at least.
I once raked leaves for two hours. It was hell on all sorts of parts of me.

I guess I must be dumb,
She had a pocket full of horses -
Trojan, and some of 'em used.
But it was Saturday night,
I guess that makes it all right.
And you say what have I got to lose.
"Little Red Corvette" is a song about a car, right? Really, what a delightfully scandalous song. But what sort of girl keeps used condoms...

you are probably not too soft-hearted. i don't think you really can be if you're smart and into evil-looking tattooed girls.
the Peach Blossom festival was this poetry reading competition. how you can you compete in poetry reading? i don't know! i was an odyssey of the mind geek. but those poetry readers were serious about their shite. re-directed energy i suppose.
goodness, i can't wait till lunch. i will try to stay away from the fungi. that is one GIANT fungi in your yard. massive! maybe it's wide and flat? like a piece of particle board or something?
i don't think any kind of girl carries used condoms in her pockets. i think it was just that a female carrying condoms period, is scandalous to most people. so naughty that they might as well be used! hyperbole. i hope!

I've been loving you too long to stop now.
You were tired, and you want to be free.
My love is growing stronger,
As you become a habit to me.
Otis was the man.
Don't you love how websites that claim to have the lyrics to songs all post the same erroneous lyrics? For example:

For all my rockabilly readers out there, here's a classic for you:
We fired our cannon 'til the barrel melted down.
So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round.
We filled his head with cannon balls, and powdered his behind
And when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind.
I realized today that I never gave the answer to...

I already miss getting up in the morning with no purpose. As for work clothes, I'll try to take some pictures and post them.
Posting car pictures in my journal on Saturday mornings is becoming something of a tradition.

There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy,
And God I know I'm one.
Whatever happened to the good, old-fashioned bordello? A house where a man could go to find entertainments of many kinds, sex being just one of them. A place with class and old world charm, where a man...

do you suspect it's possible that as more things became legal and accessible (like alcohol, semi-naked dancing, watching people have sex on video, and medical marijuana) perhaps the need to go to one centralized den of immorality became obsolete?
i'll admit though. it would be really cool to have a reason to put on my trashiest clothes and head out to my favorite spot where i would drink and play poker or gin rummy, and hang out with other folks of ill repute. as long as they were girls. whenever i put on trashy clothes and then go to a place with the opposite sex it's like one long night of fending off unwanted advances and lingering glances.

I have been refusing anti-depressants so far because I want to think of it as just a part of me that I can learn how to cope with. But I think I've finally realized that in this situation, unlike all the others, that really isn't the case. It really is a disease, and it's something I could take care of if I were willing. Yours very well might be different though.
I got my wisdom teeth out at the dentist, two at a time, with just local anaesthetic. They promised me laughing gas, too, but I didn't get it. It kind of sucked a lot, because you can hear the teeth crunchign out and stuff. When the little sucky pipe turned red, I closed my eyes for the rest of it. At least that way though, half your mouth still functions.
I have to say yes to being friends, because that was the cutest way I've ever been asked, and it reminded me of something I might say. Us shy people have to stick together, right?

Sometimes when I'm out with friends and it's a really overwhelming situation, I have had to just go find a corner to sit in and close my eyes and make myself breath for a few minutes. They of course think it's bizarre, and they get all worried, but it's what I have to do to keep myself sane, and for the most part, the people who know me well are really understanding.
venice:
I guess it does. You can't sit around doing nothing forever, though. I have been told that the current file clerk spends half his time reading magazines and browsing the internet, so my reading will not suffer.
I totally identify with your rant, by the way. Except, I think that since nerds end up ruling the world, things like that are bound to happen. We could try to be happy about it in that respect, but it probably won't work.

I watched Spiderman last night, because it was on television. This is against my usual policy; I don't watch movies when they're on television, since the networks always butcher them. I should have just put the DVD in.
Either way, I fueled my geeky Mary Jane Watson fantasies for a while. Sure, she's a teasing, evil bitch sometimes, but when she's good you can't help...

and yes I am heavily into reading the relationship books, which might be my problem all together, I give great advice.
actually, I think I am just afraid of intimacy, not sex, but the emotional part. I am not sure how to fix that.
