I've been chronically ill for 12 years now. There are a few tenets I live by now that life as a chronically ill person has taught me: 1.) People may mean well, but they don't know shit about being chronically ill, unless they are either a medical professional, or chronically ill themselves; and, 2.) I only take the things my doctor prescribes me; new-age, holistic, herbal remedies are all fine and good for whomever wishes to try that stuff, but I will stick to the tried and true treatment I've been on for the past 7 years, the one that allows me to live some semblance of a normal life.
