I have finally recovered from the Fourth of July and all it's attendant hangovers, sleepiness, and firework-related trauma.
I'm going to see' 28 Days' tonight- I hope it's as good as Hel says. (I think that's who said it rocked). The other day I was over by the burned-out warehouse where "The Hunted" was filmed, and on one of the walls there is graffiti that...

Do you love Night of The living Dead? Have you seen any of those cult movie magazines - like "Psychotronic"? It's a cool resource, but ordering videos is a big $$ problem.......

Oy, that was a Fourh of July. Went out to Lake Oswego to a party and fireworks. Noone should let fourteen-year-olds handle the firewoks (it was one of those parties people think it's cool to bring children to). Very nearly set the neighbor's house on fire. Crikey. Lots of margarita's I seem to be going to another one tonight, apparrently with some of you folks.

That's pretty much impossible...when I was 14, I was consumed with handling fireworks. Then I discovered girls, which was exponentially more dangerous.
supernovice:
I was taken to parties by my mother as a kid and I always felt horribly out of place and bored to tears... Think I usually ended up annoying the hell out of everyone there trying to get attention.

Which means, I have changed very little...

I spent most of the morning practicing cheesy cheerleader moves for Rockfest...I have to learn to use pompoms. HAHAHA!!! The closest I ever got to the cheerleading squad in high school was setting one on fire with a Bunsen burner in chemistry one time. Now that was an experiment to remember. Turns out polyester just melts away....

How much of the crap that they con you into buying at Jiffy Lube is really neccessary or helpful? I always end up getting like $200 worth of extra crap when I go in for an oil change because my car is old and decrepit and I'm afraid if I'm not nice to it it'll quit running entirely. I wish I knew more about cars....

not having heard of Jiffy Lube in the UK I had to re-read your journal to check what it was we were all discussing eeek

I can appreciate the whole sexist taking-advantage kinda garage thing, I get sorta the same vibe whenever I take a car in for any kind of work. Bike garages, on the other hand, don't seem to fuck about. Maybe this says something about the kind of guys who work in car garages and a good deal nicer things about bikers? Or is that just my bias smile
bedukay:
In my experience its about a 50/50 proposition that a mechanic is being honest to me. I'm not a female though and supposedly they take advantage of females more often than males.

Thankfully I have an uncle who owns a garage and I trust him. He's always telling me other things that need to be done or things that should be done. Like when I got my water pump changed I also got my timing belts replaced. It was because 90% of the work overlapped.
On old cars like ours (mine 89 Honda Accord) there is always things that could be done.

Usually the upsells garage have tried on me where things like chassis parts (tie rod ends, ball joints etc). Those things go all the time on old cars. I've had ball joints break moments after I've pulled of the highway. A few seconds earlier and my tire would have ripped off and done nasty things.

If you really want to know more about cars get the Haynes manual for your car they're pretty handy and they're like $20. If you lived closer I'd gladly tinker on your car for a fair price.

Well, I'm feeling way better about life in general after a nice long weekend in the woods. Crater Lake is just gorgeous. But like many national parks, you can't get too far off the beaten track and there were a LOT of retirees in tour busses. Still, it was great. After that, we went down to Collier State park (on no gas for almost forty...

Wow, Crater lake sounds cool.....I need to do some travelin'! Good to hear you are better - did you fix your landlord? xoxoxo
big_dave:
see, the problem with having spent my youth watching assorted video nasties is that as soon as you say "Crater lake" I start imagining scenes involving mutant piranha, cannibal hillbillies, gelatinous blob things under the raft and people stabbing Kevin Bacon thru the neck from under the bed. I take it the reality is not quite that bad, huh wink

mad mad mad mad mad mad
I hate everyone.
I hate my landlord most of all. After two days of neither showing up nor calling, he popped in as I was leaving this afternoon. Said he needed to measure for the new linoleum for under the sink. Never came in OR measured anything or told me he was leaving. Just dissappeared. And he certainly didn't tell me when he would be...

Tuesday.
Sink remains not fixed. I have not killed the landlord as he has been making himself rather scarce. mad
In other news, I'm mostly just excited about this weekend as I'm spending it camping down towards Crater Lake. I can't wait! So excited to get out in the woods for a little while, And the weather looks like it's going to be just about perfect.

camping kicks arse... and it's probably waaaaay more interesting in your neck of the woods than here in the tame U of K wink

Our sink is plugged up too.

Is the Crater Lake you're camping at THE Crater Lake. The infamous really cool one caused by the giant meteorite in the middle of nowhere. Super deep right away?

Sunday. Would you believe I'm still waiting for my landlord? He called yesterday and said he'd be there at one. Showed up at four. Took some measurements and left again. Came back at six, ripped out my sink, announced that he didn't have the right tools and left again, promising to be here this morning. Showed up around noon, made some noise with no discenable...

Well, boys and girls, it's another Friday night. And guess what? I watched the Bond flick that was on TV and now I'm on the computer. Now don't you all wish you lived the jet-setting Rock 'n 'Roll lifestyle of a Suicide Girl? I even make myself jealous.
Let's see...my dishwasher is leaking a substance remarkable similar to milk. The landlord was supposed to fix...

Twilight in Oregon. It's actually chilly out, and my Southern metabolism is SO confused. Although I checked the New Orleans weather today and it's really only a few degrees warmer down there right now. Still, I'm really tired of long sleeves now. I'm ready for summer.
In other news, the general consensus on the piniata was that it would be too messy. So maybe I'll...

I always loved West Coast sunsets... When I lived in Coronado, Ca., it was incredible to sit on the beach at one of the local pubs in Pacific Beach (La Heina Beach House) and cheer and toast as the sun crept below the horizon... Many a fond memory from those days.

P.S.
Christopher Walken is incredible. I don't think I've ever seen him play a bad part... My favorite, of course, was the scene he did with Dennis Hopper in True Romance - fanfuckingtastic. And who could possibly forget his cameo in Pulp Fiction? He's totally rad to the very core. :
Wishing you a great weekend... Ciao.

Well, I spent the mornig at the new lazer hair removal place at the mall with this really cute chick zapping me in all sorts of funny places. It was actually kinda fun. She told me lots of stories about zapping men in the nuts and the horrors of trying to zap really obese people. I hope this stuff really works! I never want to...

Recovering from my weekend with the Captain. The daiquiris were marvelous. Fresh strawberries, bannannas, oranje juice, White Thunder ice cream and rum. Went down so smooth in the mid-day heat. Had some friends over. Drank all the daiquiris and a few beers. Got up to go into the house at the end of the day and somehow managed to tumble UP the stairs into my...
