How spoiled am I? We're having it for dinner again tommorrow night. We've already got reservations. Sometimes it's fantastic to be an only child. Well, pretty much all of the time, actually. Anyways, getting back to the duck - it's delicious. Soooo delicious.

Those who know me well may recall that I'm really fascinated by the human body and its insides. I don't give a flying fuck WHY this guy decided to cut the head of his dick off, but by golly, I sure am glad that he provided photographic documentation.
For real though, if it's...

A friend showed me that yesterday. After gagging and squirming I made him regret I can't burn those memories out of my brain.
That is all.
Edit: Actually, one more thing: this is really fucking depressing.
Mos Def? Okay, that's a little weird, but still pretty awesome.
I feel like making a top 10 movies of 2004 list, but honestly, I suck at remembering which movies came out when....

Have you seen A Very Long Engagement? It's good.
Yesterday, it was 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Today, it is snowing.
I really could be more thrilled with life.
Just wanted to say good luck, sorry I didn't get a chance to know you better, &c. If you ever need a guide to the northside or decide to go to a Chicago gathering or whathaveyou, let me know.
Cute profile picture, by the way.

I'd cook you eggs benedict if you were here right now...
Yeah, selective national historical memory is a fascinating thing. I never learned about the 1918 Pandemic in school, I read about it on my own by chance in an autobiography, and then did a bit of research on it to learn more. I imagine that it's not more widely discussed because there's not much to learn from it: the Bubonic Plague taught people about hygiene in cities, heh heh, whereas the influenza pandemic just killed a whole fuckload of people. I mean, knowing more about it doesn't teach you to be more careful, it just scares the crap out of you.
I wonder too, if it doesn't have something to do with the fact that we'd probably rather learn about filthy Europeans getting a comeuppance then lots of innocent Americans dying.
Actually, there is new information. In fact, that is what sparked my post.
The first I heard about this was a documentary on PBS several years ago. I was fascinated that such an important time in history could be unknown to me.
You are probably correct in that people don't want to hear about Americans dying, but any event that changes the world so drastically should be passed down. We have incorrectly developed a sense of invulnerability to plagues and famine. That is a foolish and naive way to think.
Hmm...I wonder if I could turn this into a roundtable?
But it was a blast. KtKate and Al both came to Dallas, which was in the 70's the whole time we were there. The family was off the hook as usual, which was great. And Brad of course was in top shape as always.
Al got a kiss from my Jordan one night, which made her just happy as a clam. Something about brothers, I dunno... Anyway, the girls were both ready to move to Texas by the end of the first day, to say nothing of the end of the trip. Also, there was whiskey. And my mom's southern accent, which apparently only I can not hear.
My presentation in the class I'm auditing went beautifully, thanks...

Snow sounds rather nice and romantic right now. Too bad I'd freeze me toes off.
Today was the breaking point, I think. I signed up for another class, so I'm now taking three upper...

Yeah, I'm a little sub sailor/cook. Basically, one or two guys (no girls on board, that cuts down on my hopeless crushes somewhat) put out a meal for 100 peope every 6 hours, 24/7. We make everything, alot from scratch. My fave is baking before breakfast; Muffins, Coffee Cake, Turnovers. Just makes me feel all so, I don't know, maternal?
