well, you filthy Portland hippies, i'll be back in the bosom of your dreary city in less than twenty-four hours. i can't say that i've missed the weather.

Atlanta is wonderful, and i love it. every time i come home, i wonder how i ever could have left in the first place. my friends are here, the food is better, and surely the sunshine is...

TO THE WINDOW! TO THE WALL!

today, i went to see the optometrist, and, after learning the happy fact that my ever-increasing myopia seems to be leveling off, i mentioned to him that sometimes my right eye goes lazy when i read or change focus on things. after doing some tests, he said it wasn't noticeable enough for therapy, but he gave me this to...

me: so apparently my mother has been selling her cigarettes to my seventeen-year-old brother at exorbitant prices so that, when he can't make it to the store, he can curse himself for his habit.

nick: that reminds me of all the people our age who hang around outside the Regal theater, selling cigarettes for a dollar each to the thirteen-year-olds.

dave: you know, i've debated...

so i finally dragged myself to the doctor today after contemplating drilling a hole in my head to relieve the pressure, and my suspicions have been confirmed. the sinus infection i've had for the past two months went terminal as soon as i returned home to a place in which i'm the only non-smoker of four. blech. my skull tried to commit suicide. so i'm...

I remember when my beloved Buttons was killed by a vehicle. i loved that cat so much.

i hope Coco finds a favorable rebirth, and am sorry for the loss of your friend.

I wasn't trying to say that the movie spawned a book. Just that the movie spawned a crappy writers "version" of the movie complete with movie poster cover. The book I plan to dig in to next. Didn't mean to irritate just to thank you for the introduction to Frank Herberts' work.

ugh. i am ill. at first, i thought it was the flu, but, thankfully, it appears to instead be just a really nasty cold. i was planning on going to Lenny's tonight with the SG ATLiens, and i'll be damned if i miss it. i'll just keep myself well hydrated and medicated and rest up until the evening falls.

because of it, today i missed...

(plan: to offend you so that your body temperature will raise high enough to busticate that flu, and then you will finally arise from your house to come busticate me. then, myself having been thoroughly busticated, we can go to waffle house. and mississippi!)

If you're finding GEB tough, you might want to look at something such as an academic paper or an overview for math majors which goes into the incompleteness proof in more detail - I find Hofstader's explanation more complicated than it should be, the way a dumbed down discussion on general/special relativity on PBS is often more difficult to understand than a textbook which cuts straight to the chase. Otherwise, try listening to "A Musical Offering" while reading, it may help.

Get better.

I have an unedited vhs version of Dune bootlegged from Japanese television. I also am the proud owner of the entire Dune series of books, old and with beautiful illustrations.

I identify with the Bene Geserit, more so than the Fedaykin.

I could help Sorcha with the library & archives have some experience there. I'm not great with plant knowledge but do have serious landscaping experience. The book question is too hard to narrow down...

After further consideration I'm withdrawing my application, what's with the bureacracy? I'll be the stowaway you can count on finding just before you reach the red planet.

Wow, you've described me perfectly. I'm so close to embodying every archetype desired.

I'm often in a drunken state, and when drunk, I'm most certainly multilingual. I love combining chemicals and I often do that by simply smashing test tubes into each other.

I'm constantly mothering over this damn rabbit of mine. Oh, I'll love him and pet him until the day he dies. RIP sweet rabbit.

I'm not a master chef, but I fish and am excellent at baiting hooks. I guess that makes me a master...oh forget it. I know that 1 + 1 is closely approximated to equal 2.

I'm not a beautiful computer specialist that speaks Russian, but I have a bookmark for those Russian mail order brides. However, I AM a pensive leader who's joyful with animals. Eww.

Finally, I can single handedly apply BandAids in less than five seconds, which is just as good as any fancy shmancy medical degree, and I can make Tang. Tang is the breakfast that keeps on giving.
