The most frustrating things to deal with are people who think they "understand".

I'm sorry, if you're a civilian you do NOT understand my job as a soldier. Be it when I'm in training, deployed, doing AT or monthly drill. Hearing "Everyone has to work, just because you're going to be away for two weeks doesn't make it any different...

Long day today. Just grogginess that refused to leave.

In the morning, treated a patient for, and I wish I was kidding, a stuffy nose for a day. Really? You come to a clinic after having a stuffy nose for a DAY?! Some people really irritate me with their low level of tolerance. Man up and drive on... Regardless, we threw some antibiotics(Keflex), some...

Really long shift yesterday, the 25 hours dragged. And last night I found out my grandmother had passed away at 1130am EST (2000 in Afghanistan). Really rough even though we weren't close. I'm drained from being on the phone with family so no REAL blog yet. When I wake up I'll encompass Saturday's day.

Quick one today JUST to keep on schedule...

Solid day off, woke up to our awesome gunships blazing at the early hours of the morning. Bunkmate dragged me to breakfast half-asleep but so worth it. After breakfast took a nap(was amazing to actually sleep for once) then got up ~11am. Did some room maintenance and nerdedout a bit on the laptop installing updates and...

Long miserable day today. Not only did I flub the diagnostic APFT (PT test, push-ups, sit-ups and 2-mile run) at 0400 this morning before working all day but found out my team is getting shafted into working an additional overnight each week so now it goes Tuesday 0730-0800 Wednesday, Thursday 0730-1700, Saturday 0730-0800 Sunday... Ugh. Never going to get good gym scheduling at this rate...

Two days rolled into one I suppose since I failed to update yesterday or earlier today!

So yesterday was an absolutely dreadful day at work. I had two patients from 0800-1600... This coupled with our internet being down in the rooms made for a rather slow day to say the least.

The first patient was a simple follow-up on dehydration. Basically the guy was retarded...

I've decided to begin an experiment in writing to document the remainder of my deployment in Afghanistan. In accordance with OPSEC(Operational Security) and HIPPA laws(medical privacy) I will of course leave out names. That satisfied, let's begin.

To start, I am a Medic in the Army National Guard currently deployed in southern Afghanistan; Kandahar Air Field to be precise. I work...

Rekindled my love for anime this week. Enjoyed a nice two days off at the mere cost of working some 24 hour shifts every few days along with my 10-12 hour ones. In the last week I managed to watch Elfen Lied, Blue Drop, High School of the Dead online and then my DVD's arrived so I watched Air, Samurai Girls, and Nyan Koi...

I definitely recommend Clannad. It's full of hilarity and sadness wrapped perfectly in a wonderful story. Once I get back to the US I will definitely check out DeathNote.

Not a huge "sharer" but I'm inspired to toss this up since my writing has come up a few times lately all around the web. This is pretty old, like, years ago old, but it's one of my favorites.

I ready myself for the moment of truth,
Put my heart and soul in your hands;
My life is flashing before my eyes,
Like...
