You can listen to a couple songs off of Love & Distortion at their site. They are trying to drop the 'shoegazer' label, and Ocasek's production added a strong power-pop influence to it (supposedly, my bro keeps telling me he is going to send me a copy). I'll know more the day after the show, hopefully the hotel room has DSL.
He and Sheetal have been working on a side project, and if they get good reviews, who knows? Rolling Stone gave their last one 4 stars, so I am hoping the best for them.

Well, not dropping their sound, I misstated that, they just want to add some cross appeal with a little hook-ier Cars-esque additions, since shoegazer label caters to a smaller niche. Like I said, I haven't heard it, but I will soon.
I have been trying to get my brother to join SG, but all he wants to do play music and go out and enjoy San Francisco. I don't blame him. Last time I went out there, over the new year he surprised me with David Cross tickets. He was brilliant. I even got to meet him and shake his hand. Best time of my life.

Indeed, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is directed by Alfonso Cuaron of Y tu mama tambien fame, although you'd never really know it... There's nothing in the film to set it much apart from Chris Columbus's attempt at the Chamber of Secrets...

I am very excited to meet another Hartley fan. I get so exuberant about his films that I scare people away from them. Yes, Trust et al. are superb. But then I find something to like in each of his films. However, the most recent one -- name eludes me at the moment -- sort of creeps me out for a reason I cannot surmise.

Yes, PJ made an unfortunate choice of skin-tight pants, revealing the fleshless contours of her coccyx and sacrum. The weird thing is, she appears to have a beer gut. Or is that stomach distension from malnutrition? I'll have to write to her to find out.

The scene of her singing To Sir With Love is pretty amazing.

i own it on DVD. it has it's cheesey moments but for what it was supposed to be ( a rip basically on the tough guy he was supposed to be ) it was a good movie. everyone played over the top and i feel it worked.

My bird is on my stairs. I took him out to the courtyard to play, but he kept coming into the house. He's trying to teach himself to fly. It's really amazing actually.

Yeah, Sabbath is pretty timeless metal. Priest to a lesser extent. I think there's something about the glammier side of it that just makes me nostalgic for my kiddie days.

I heard this one classic metal song on the radio about a month ago, and I've been trying DESPERATELY to find the song. It's called something like "All I Wanted was a Soda" or "I Just Wanted a Soda" or something to that effect. It's a song about a kid who holes himself up in his room and listens to music, and when he does finally come downstairs to get a drink, his parents accuse him of being antisocial, doing drugs, and God knows what. It was pretty great - ever heard of it? Do you know who it's by?

Oh, I bought that Interpol album for the exact same, not-entirely-good-enough reason: decent press. But, I think it's a pretty fine album, so that was pretty fortunate. In particular, Obstacle 1 has the greatest bass of any song for a long time, but there's a lot of good things on there.
