Mmm, sucks about the outofprint CD I ordered. No word yet, and I ordered it Monday. Guess that store has been 86ed or something. (It's on half.com, so I haven't been charged.) **

Better news- seeing Goatsgotohell and VeganYenta last night. Always a delight. I was not too drunk (I ate a LOT of Chinese), so I remember SOME people's names. Bob earlier in the...

that's one of the things I respect about you; you one of the most independent thinkers I know --especially on this issue (within this site).
although I am probably in trendy harmony with most of sg, I am convinced that the right honorable reverend G is mos def in the house --of representatives. I am of the opinion that he is an active cause and propagator of this endless slaughterama in west asia. charisma is a gift, but we know too well of its potential for abuse --cliche, I know.
while someone like w has a crude, unrefined charisma, g's charm is eloquent and radiant --even quite beautiful at times. it is also subtle in its dual nature and political appeal --he has been w's personal spiritual trainer ever since the latter gave up dwi & cow tipping. If he hadn't been where he was and done what he did, somone else would gladly have done the honors. I'm not saying he's an evil person, just that his effect on our social & political climate has been one that I find unpalatable.
nonetheless, you are probably better informed than I am, as my knowledge of current & recent history is nil compared to yours --my favorite news source is the osmosis channel & I just finished reading how to divine history. --though I do have consistently partisan sources at my (mostly) left-wing office --I try to avoid becoming a doctrinaire by reading whatever paper is left around --my favorite being the enquirer.-- & being open-minded to the opinions of my republican relatives --I try not to throw out the babies with the wading-pool pea-water.
you seem to be attuned to grey issues, and take things issue by issue & are a lot less prejudicial than myself. you don't seem particularly attached to one political affiliation & that is something I've always respected, pretended to & --consistently wavered from.

This is something I read by Michael Chabon in The New York Review of Books, about how he was deciding how to write his fiction, as a college student. I thought he especially made sense in the end part about what bugs him about science-fiction.
Growing up, I read some science-fiction that was trad hero/ bad-guy stuff but I generally shied away from that...

Well the habit of trying to get your daily vitamin supplements (namely your vitamin O), while others are in the same vicinity as you is not really a habit that you can control much. I would say that you shouldn't be concerned about kicking that habit as it's not your fault they are around. biggrin

I know a while back I said I'd do more tributes to hot-t-t-looking SGers, but I got a diff idea this morning that I really wanted to do, a wildly different tribute to my favorite women of SG...

my favorite funny women.

Here are the top 3 funniest things I've seen women SG/SGers do lately:

3) I can't put into simple words how great Kikka...

bonus additional updates- 6/17/05 evening

I have a lot I wanna write about and no time at all to do it. I'm at work, then going to the doctor's to check out the allergy possibility (actually, I'm sure I'll just get a recommendation to go to some specialist joker to tell me what's really going on), then back here to work, then dinner and the...

God, I was almost as sick last night as I was two Saturdays ago... you know, when I didn't go to work and had to bail on the Raveonettes show with DCQ?
I woke up at 3. Hot as hell. Aching. Thirsty as hell. Couldn't sleep. I know at least part of this was taking Vicks cold medicine because I had a sore throat yesterday......

Smart Cheech/ Dumb Cheech

smart-
I voted today. Virginia had some primaries for lieutenant governor and state senate. I got a newspaper section on candidates. They have some goddamned undemocratic rule now that you can't vote across party lines, you were forced to choose either a Democratic or Republican voting machine for all offices. I could give you a few pages, with this, corporate lobbyists,...

Some random Monday things:

1. "Impecunious" has to be the classiest way I've ever seen to say "broke."

2. The fancy site I pimped a while back, Jux2, that let you search Yahoo, Google and Jeeves, has gone under.

3. I watched Collateral, Secret Window, and American Movie over the weekend. The first and last are kinda bleak movies to me. The first was pretty...

What would you say to a road trip to NYC for this:

The Delancy

???

Wow, I had a great time last night, seeing Karmella's Game for the fourth time. And guess who I ran into? BillHaverchuck, ex-SGer. I guess he too had loved the band from previous Rockbot shows. I have to tell you though- the Velvet Lounge crowd has generally been pretty sedate; "politely swinging," yes. The Warehouse Next Door crowd was pretty crazy. BH says,...

Boston- So, as Jule and BrookeLynne's friend pointed out, Newbury Street in Back Bay is a nice shops area to go up. Newbury Comics (I got a Meatwad "plushie keychain" that I'll hang in my car cuz it's gigantic, and picked up the new Magnet and Venus... Sleater-Kinney were on both covers, so I eventually picked that up there, too. Pretty great noisy one....

Fantasy football already? Yep, it would appear so. I assume we are starting a league, yes? Yes! Gather up the troops and let's go to war.

Are you ready for some football?

(well, in 3-4 months, anyway...)

You should join this league for starters.
