Ok, I'll give you another quiz. And another less-clothed photo if for good guesses. So, do you know about Operation Impact in NYC? It's a Bloomberg program, which deploys rookie cops to certain neighborhoods just after they graduate from the training academy. So where do you think these nervous novices get sent? Is it like training wheels, are they sent to easy spots to learn...

Penn Station at midnight on a Friday night is a bizarre and creepy world. Sat down on the A train across from a man jabbering about how he could take a guy out with just his scarf, or take 3 guys out, or 4 if he had a pistol. He liked my long socks, and switched between commenting on them and threatening to kill people...

I think those experiences are part of the fabric of our life, and make it that much more interesting.

Snow! What started off as dull and endless rain has morphed into big wet flurries - winter's coming! And Halloween! I can't figure out what to be - I want to be some kind of exotic wildcat, like a servil, ocelot, fossa, or sandcat... something really obscure and specific. But I don't have it in me to do the costume justice.
I do have this...

I had hoped to see what a proper fossa costume might've looked like. frown

Despite an endless downpour, things are looking up. You find ways of categorizing different emotions, registering them as they come along, and then filing them away in the right folder and shutting the drawer until you have time to deal with them. School takes precedence over moping around, when it has to, and when it doesn't, I mope around. And the rest of the time...

Aw, thanks lady! I've been meaning to write a yarn post for a while. The treehouse is AMAZING!! The best I could ever do as a kid was nail a few questionable boards into my grandmother's pear tree as high as I could reach... and since I'm rather short, I never managed to get them very high. It must have been funny to watch though.
Seeing a treehouse like that was a dream... staying in it?! Gah! I can't even explain. At first, walking up the tree branch staircase makes you sooooo nervous. eeek But it's totally worth it! There's even a sink, a counter, dresser and an actual bed (with bug netting) built up there!

It's at a friend's property out in Squamish, BC. He owns a few acres and has some other really cool projects going on. I think the guy's original idea was to build the treehouse so he had a bright place to mount his solar panels and a dry place for the batteries to go. (he's using only solar and generator power...You can see the back of the solar panels in one of the pictures I posted)

Anyways... geeky treehouse talk. hah.

Indian summer is breezing through my open windows, a trail of dried leaves strewn across the floor.
Bottles of fall beer, october fests, porters, and pumpkin ales, line the counters. Papers and books and pens and and coffee mugs are strewn across all surfaces, cats sleeping in compact balls in patches of sun, and the nordic skiis leaning against the bookshelf are starting to look...

A new city at last, and a week of sun and warmth to christen it. New York City showed its finest colors for me before I left, from beaches to mets games (they WON!) to rooftop evenings and 24 hour fried chicken joints. But I don't miss you, Brooklyn - I was ready to leave. Here I can hear crickets all night and see herons...

Thanks for all the congrats, and here's more news; I've gotten into all the programs I've applied to so far! Granted that is only three, and I'm waiting to hear from one more in the next month, but godDAMN it is a huge relief. I think I said that already. I think I'm a little bit drunk.

I'm in the messy/scary process of trying to...

Yesterday the "snow" felt like tiny shards of ice piercing my face as I battled through it. Today it abounds in fluffy piles glistening under a brazen sun. Snow!
Nothing else is really new besides this cold layer changing the color and topography of even the most familiar surroundings. And this is comforting, this stable stasis, although not necessary.
I've never been afraid of change,...

Constancy amidst change: When three of your fave SGs are no longer active. While not afraid of change either, those things make me a bit sad.

New Year, less procrastination? Hardly. Here I am with hours to go on an important grad school application, and NOW of all times I'm inspired to return. I can't stay long, but I hope you all had a meaningful, or meaningless but awesome, New Years Eve. I don't know why everyone gets so worked up about that one night; I think we're desperate for meaning...

I'm with you -- meaningless parties now and then to lay down a chalk mark on the spinning asphalt.

I made no resolutions, either, and found that self honesty oddly affirming. It's good to start the new year without pressure.

I'll have my first Scotch when I visit my great uncle in Scotland.

Thanks for the blog, procrastinator.
