So this entry was originally me bitching about how other math kids are really stuck up, but then decided I should bitch about something else.
I went to a barbeque at gasworks on sunday. It was nice. Warm, full of bad food and cute boys. That night I was getting undressed and noticed something on my shoulders... to my shock and dismay I had *gasp*...

*sings* I think I'm pretty good lookin, for a girl...
It's really fun to put "I" or "me" or "my" in place of all pronouns in a song. "I am so beautiful, to me!" Sean and I do it all the time. He rocks, by the way. He's coming to see me this weekend, and rumour has it he's bringing a shirt that says "AL...

I was takin' a gander at the ol' Declaration of Independence yesterday and boy, it's a great piece of work. Did you guys ever see that movie Ben and Me, that animated job about the mouse and Ben Franklin? That was rad, I'm tellin' ya. I have a close tie between Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson for my favorite founding father.

I do believe Benjamin Franklin fathered 57 illegitimate children.

Joe Strummer is my favorite founding father. Did you know you were born on the day of the Clash's first live gig at the Black Swan, July 4th 1976. I wonder if the concert was happening while your mum was giving birth?
Happy 227th birthday, USA!
Question for the day: Who is your favorite founding father?

I hear Thomas Jefferson pulled all the hot nubian chicks.
So... so... I know many people believe that man's unique ability to destroy anything he desires, anything he touches, his ability to completely eradicate all life from the face of the earth if he so wishes, many believe this to be a flaw. But I see this not as a failure of man, but as a triumph. We hold the fate of the world in...

Because of the many WWI-related books I was reading at the same time as Testament its depiction of war as a terrible thing didn't hit me as hard as Brittan's matter of fact tone. It's been almost two years (and countless other books) since I read it, but there's something uncannily prim about it, at least in my memory of it. I should read it again soon.
Happy birthday half an hour in advance. I bought olives for you but I ate them, for I share your predilection. They were delicious.

I read Brittan in a course on 20th C. lit, subtitled "narratives of loss", which sandwiched her between Yeats and Hemingway--I suppose I was moved by her book at the time, but then A Farewell to Arms ripped my heart out with its sad, sad ending (saddest ending ever) and Brittan seemed quite neat by comparison. (Though I do recall the end of Part One feeling like a punch in the gut.)
Incidentally, the one history book that was on the course, Eksteins' Rites of Spring, was absolutely enthralling: it's a cultural history of the 20th C. that starts with accounts of what went on at the debut performance of Stravinsky's "The Rites of Spring". It was one of the most consistently enjoyable books I'd ever been assigned.
I wept--real tears, complete with choked sobs--the last time I finished The World According to Garp. But that was years and years and years ago. Eons, really. So very long ago that I had to read it in Latin.
I felt bad about the olives, so I got you a big piece of Brie. But when I got it home there was a box of crackers on the counter and a bottle of wine in the fridge... Happy birthday anyway.

don't know what kind of pens taggers use beyond your average sharpie. but i do know that there is this stuff that writes like a pen, but instead of ink it emits this liquid that errodes glass so you can write on windows, but it won't show up til about five minutes after you've left. i thought i was kind of interesting.

I'm coming back when boys stop being whining little spineless bitches and stand up and take responsibility for themselves. Hm. That may take a while.
Okay, I'll come back when the disgust wears off a little.

I love when distaste for something leads to a broad generalization of an entire group. All men suck. Why, because a few men fuck up. Now I am left with the collective distaste of all women who have been burned buy a jerk. Now I'm annoyed by all men who treat women badly and women who generalize. Then some asshole will hate me for hating those things and we'll all fucking hate till the veins in our necks burst from stress. Why can't we all just have an Icee? Icee is pure love, in a variety of flavors. Dead man on a stick. Amen.

Wow, my set went up today! Now I can go take a new one that will be even hotter, but a lot less nerdy. You guys like cool stuff, right?

What's the deal? I meet people. Perfectly rational, perfectly interesting, smart people, and then I find out they're into astrology. It's so confusing for me. Even people who have read St. Augustine's Confessions! I don't understand.

Awesome new set. AL the Burninator!
Tans are yucky and eventually they will turn your skin into the bottom of a leather purse. I prefer my pleasurebots with healthy, pale white skin. This way the bruises will show up easier when I'm done with you.
