FUCK! this is the second hard drive crash i've suffered in the past three months. i'm obviously fragmented much more than is acceptable. hopefully i'll run disk warrior when it shows up and save my computer. if not, i'm going to wipe my hard drive. :vast sadness is here:
however, despite the fact that i have to go to my school's computer lab to surreptitiously...

it's my desire! it's my desire!
i chose to offer a sacrifice upon the altar of rock and roll, allowing lightning bolt's cymbal to tear a tiny bit of skin off my elbow last night. i suppose the gods looked with beneficence upon my offering,...

in approximately three years, deckwreck dave (one of the two other bearers of the left-bicep chrysknife) and i will once again enter a tattoo parlor together, and we will have permanently placed on our bodies a peach and crossbones, symbolizing forever that, yes, we are from Georgia, and we are fuckin' proud.

Nostoi: the Homecoming.
If you're always home, nostalgia becomes self referential, cyclical like the night sky. Memories will begin to occult the present and you'll long for something new without knowing what it is.
It's also possible that none of that will even occur to you and you'll live blissfully in the Southern sun. But, tell me. What fun is there without the homecoming, disguised as a different person only to reveal yourself before slaughtering the suitors and claiming what is rightfully yours?

Portland is my home. I moved away but eventually came back. You can make roots whereever you are but it takes time. I have to agree with you that those ties with the friends you grew up with can be really strong. But you know the old saying. You can never go home again. You may go back but it will not likely be what you hold in your mind.... and you may just find that when you get there that you will miss our fair city of Portland.
feeling much happier and resigned to the undulations of fate, our protagonist rustles herself up a sandworm and rides off into the desert night, alone, wielding a letter to Jubal Harshaw in one skinny paw and an exceedingly sharp knife in the other.

this has been one of the roughest seven day cycles of my life.
and the beautiful poetry of it is that, almost exactly one week ago, i wrote that i was fucking unstoppable. the good Lord has come forth and tested my statement, and though i have trembled as Job, i have not and will not renounce the Lord that i hold tomyself and...

it's easy to say 'i believe in myself' but only a true badass such as yourself could declare it with such epic gravity - and pull it off.
yay for you.

this sort of thing brings me immense joy. i am fascinated by the idea of the vast cacophony of information provided by the internet and the interconnectedness of all peoples. despite my linguist tendencies and my desire to preserve and study endangered languages, i can't help but be totally enthralled by the idea of working on Interlingua. it's much more logical than Esperanto; it's taken...

one of my favorite apocryphal stories relates to Pablo Neruda, whose immense and diverse body of work i love very dearly.
he spoke at a lecture in his native Chile on his presence as a nationalist poet and read some of his pieces. at the end, he was asked by a man in the audience to either read or recite (apocryphal stories tend to be...
