I just got back from the beach. A very beautiful weekend, filled with all kinds of squishy creatures, whales and sea lions.

Squid stories? You bet your sweet siphon I've got squid stories (and some octopus stories as well). I saw some sthenoteuthis (not sure on that spelling) out in the Pacific near Midway. They were cool but I was on a ship and they were in the water. I wasn't allowed to jump in and try to hug them so it wasn't a real close encounter. We molested several octopuses while diving in hawaii and I molested a little red octopus while diving here in Monterey. The coolest squid stuff right now is a project I'm working on with a fancy pants professor. I'm analyzing video footage of Dosidicus Gigas (aka Jumbo Squid, or Humbolt Squid). These are big mean honest to god man-eating mexican squid. They're sooperfuckingcool. Unfortunately, I haven't met them in person (or should that be in squid?) yet though.
