Alright. I promised @libris that I'd tell her about this at some point. So it's time for a strange stroll down memory lane. Hooray for clichés! Sorry. I haven't slept in a couple days so I'm a bit crazy at the moment...

Anyway, gather around children, it's story time. (This is going to be a long post.) When I was younger, there was what a priest described as a demon after me.

So when I was in 8th grade, we had kind of odd housing arrangements. We had moved from the city I currently live in because my dad got a job in South Texas. We all hated the place so we ended up staying with my grandma until we could get back into our old house. She didn't have many rooms so I bunked with my dad and my sister had the room in the bank of the house. Now every once in a while she would go to a sleep over at a friend's house, which would afford me with the chance to steal her room to sleep in a bed by myself. There was nothing particularly strange about the room during the day, in fact that's where we spent most of our time. But those nights when I slept alone in there were a different story altogether.

So it was fine in the room even up to when I was ready to go to sleep. It was spring so it was hot as hell. But the instant I turned the lights off, the atmosphere of the room completely changed. It grew immediately cold, and there was this feeling of dread that came over me. I switched the lights back on and it became hot and non-threatening again. Lights went off again, the feeling came back. So I eventually turned off the lights and ran to the bed. As I tried to sleep, I heard a strange voice whisper my name. I sprang out of bed and hit the lights. The usual return to normal. This happened multiple times throughout the night.

The next day I decided not to tell anyone what had happened because I thought it might be my brother or sister messing with me and I didn't want to give them the satisfaction of knowing they scared the hell out of me. But this happened every time I slept in that room.

Two years later, we're back in our old house. I still haven't told anyone about the voice calling my name, and at this point I've basically forgotten about it. The family was out shopping and I was home alone. It was dusk, the lights were all off except for the one in the room I was in, and I decided to go upstairs to my room. As I headed for the stairs... Well, I'm still not sure which happened first. Ask I know is that I suddenly couldn't move. There was a terrible chill down my spine. And I heard that same voice call my name again. I don't know if I froze because I heard the voice, or if it somehow stopped me before it called out to me. I just know that I could move for what felt like an eternity. It wasn't until my family got home that I was able to move again.

But I realized that it couldn't have been anyone messing with me because no one was home. I wasn't trying to sleep this time so it was not something that could be written off as a dream. And the worst realization... whatever it was had followed me. Two years after leaving my grandma's house it found me again.

Over the course of the next several years we all experienced paranormal activity in the house. My brother and sister saw black figures, usually heading towards my room. They walked, they crawled on the floor and ceiling, and they moved very unnaturally. I myself never saw them. But I had somehow established my room as a sanctuary. As long as I stayed in there I knew I was safe. But some nights I would sit with my back to the door and I would feel that sudden sense of dread return. Next thing I knew there was a presence sitting on the other side. It's back to mine. And I could feel the menace, the intent to harm me in some way.

Other nights I would hear and see the doorknob turning like someone was trying to get in. A few times I jumped up as quickly as I could and threw the door open to find no one there.

Most days I could feel something watching me. I could feel the menace in the gaze that stalked me anywhere I went.

Occasionally we heard screams at night coming from different rooms in the house.

And one night, something actually touched me. It pushed on my arm. There was a cold spot on my arm where it pushed me.

Eventually my mom called a priest and told him everything that had been going on. He said it sounded like there was a demon after me. He performed a blessing on the house, room by room. After that, things died down. We still experience things from time to time. But nothing like what happened before the blessing.

So there it is. My encounter with the supernatural. Sorry for the long post. But if you got through it, thanks for reading.

Pretty similar to your experience, but with no distinct voices. The sense of dread, the sense of being watched, of -presence-... Yes. Sometimes there was music, of a sort. Like a viola or violin. Creepy.
