I want to strangle one of my coworkers.
Here's what happened. So one of the project heads, who is not the boss or my supervisor, is working on his report to finish the project he's working on. He was writing some part of it and decided that he didn't want to write anymore and tried to pass it off on me to "edit" after telling me he wasn't finished. He also hinted that he wanted me to use my "creative writing" skills to make it better. Translation, he wanted me to write it for him, which is not my job. So I told him it sounded like he was having content issues instead of editing issues and that he should talk to the graduate research assistant that he's been working with on the project first. This was last Friday. So this Wednesday I overhear him talking to the boss about the incident telling him that he just asked me to polish it for him and I said no. The boss replied with this big speech about how I'm supposed to be there to help them do things like that, I'm the editor so it's my job, if I don't want to work they can just fire me and find someone else to pay, etc. I was sitting in my office shitting bricks because it really sounded like my boss was going to come over and fire me or something. But he never shows up. So I went to his office and told him that I overheard the conversation, told him what happened, that I only refused to help because he wanted me to write it for him, and all that. He seemed pissed off at the project manager, because he knows that he does things like that, and assured me I was alright. So it worked out, but the fact is that the old bastard who was trying to get me to do his work for him threw me under the bus to try to save his own ass. I was furious, my friend tried to calm me down before I went to see the boss because he said I looked like I was ready to go off on someone (which I didn't).
At least things worked out alright in the end. I still want horrible things to happen to that backstabbing old bastard.
