...well, at least those I'm comfortable enough to truly be me around - which should be most or all, elsewise why are they friends ?
...and, aye, there's those few I promised I'd hold back particular parts of me because it bothers/bothered them, but ANYways...
I never said I was normal - and I'm demn proud of it!
in a mere 4 weeks I'll be waking up to my 4th morning to O'ahu sunrise :) ...at this point it's a mix of Helsyeh! with a touch of the usual anxiety
mind you, I absolutely LOVE taking vacations, seeing new places, new people, exploring new areas, & everything else involved with new places & new travels !!
but I am one of those odd, extremely socially awkward ones - I'm horrible, if not horrifying, with strangers ( with rare exception where I feel immediately comfortable being myself )
...I'm usually quite shy yet personable, shakier than normal, with a tendency to 'speed-talk' & stutter a bit... at least until comfort ( finally! ) kicks in
for those who've met me at or via any of the places I've worked, you likely haven't seen this side of me - but that's due to my 'ability' to get into a work-mode version of myself
I am a friendly person - and often too trusting, I admit - and if a conversation leads into something I have intrigue or interest it, I'll jump in full-boar *apologies in advance :D*
hells, if I have a history in said subject, it may come up all-too-often *apologies, again*
a person has to earn my ire and dislike, as I like to naturally assume that if a person is willing to speak to me, then there must be something good to/of them :)
no, I will not judge based on initial appearance - I've had that happen too often to me - but I can, and have, judged based on seeing how a person treats others or speaks of others
I have my own reservations, to be certain, based on personal history and involvement in particular things, but doesn't everyone deserve a chance ?
...until they prove themselves to be asshats, purposeful idiots, or judgemental jackholes - you get the point ;)
one of the things about traveling that's good AND bad is that I am sensitive to scents & textures, nearly as much as I am with tastes...
I've actually followed particular direction and/or people due to a scent that intrigued and/or enticed me :)
because of this I have a love-hate towards floral and associated
- I absolutely LOVE arboretum & botanical gardens & similar - BUT the scents CAN overwhelm me, even as I'm enjoying the 7 hells out of 'em :)
I may not be able to see colours, but I can see shadings & the ever-so-beautiful entropy of its combinations
waters & water-sources have intriguing & enticed me as well, the feeling of the waters like an emotional wave that pulses from it
you can feel the energy & the emotion - sadly, often an angry rush, at least with local waters - utterly wonderful albiet almost frightening
( probably doesn't help I never learned to swim *sad laugh* )
but, gods, I can sit in a hottub/whirlpool for hours quite happily until I'm so happy-weary I can barely move **LOVE**
ANYways... spring is technically here, though it's still only warm enough at temperature peaks for the day
I even got a haircut the day before the First Day Of Spring & Full Moon !
BUT, again, just 4 weeks-under and I'll be where the daily lows are equal-to-or-higher that of the daily highs locally *laughs happily*

3/9 : wtf, governor - deciding the state will not enforce minimum instruction hours for mn schools because "family vacation time is most important [...] in mn" ... mn is having trouble reaching federal levels in a country that's behind internationally as it is, but hey, summer off ?!?
...seriously, even farmers in the state had been smart enough to state that the need for kids to have summers off to support the family farms has been done for several decades and supported a year-round school system like countries that've now long surpassed us - *yeesh* >:(
3/9 II : *yeesh* the city's pre-inspection review is that my apt "needs to be better organized" - for the 'true' inspections this coming week - wth ?
3/9 III : there's something hilariously saddening in that I could count the number of cars on the road per hour on one hand all day - until the heavy rain turns into heavy snow and suddenly... TRAFFIC! insane, idiotic traffic w/ people honking & brakes screeching & "oh gods it's snowing"
3/10 : apparently I'm not the only one noticing an unusual bombardment of advertising today from a bigoted, hateful restaurant chain - that isn't even OPEN on sundays ! ...I also discovered I'd been pronouncing their name wrong, but godfuck if I'm gonna stop now *smirks*
3/10 II : I now have 3 new pairs of shorts & 3 new hats ( with 4th en route ) for my O'ahu/Hawai'i trip (less than 6 wks!) ... was told to pack light but would need shorts, hats, & 100spf sunscreen - it's rare I wear shorts or hats, so the islands are in for... a treat? a shock?
** ...and, yes, I AM very much a jeans in the EVERYtime, including summer, guy ( no one wants to see my legs! ) - but was told that's a VERY bad idea for O'ahu/Hawai'i ! ...and my fedora is too easy to blow away in any kind of wind, so it's staying home for this trip :)
3/11 : a morning of a few disappointments, but a largely successful one by day's end nonetheless/despite ... a minor one being no sidewalk this am - which was even WORSE/filled heading home ( guess where they pushed the remaining road snow? ) - at least most drivers pulled over...
3/12 : Hallways smelled like melted cheese *ugh*, (still) no sidewalks, & memoria dreams all night of moments I was PO'd/angry at someone - is my brain working w/ reality to prep me for something ?
3/13 : there IS no win! - rainfall/downpour has turned the unwalkable knee-deep sludge 'sidewalk' into unwalkable knee-deep water-filled 'sidewalk' ... plus partially flooded work's warehouse ( & GM's office! :( ) - they were still working on stopping the water influx when I left *eep*
3/13 II : ok, I'm a little scared yet amused - the grocery delivery informed me that the sweet tea I order is now considered a seasonal product, so the store ordered extra on purpose to try & fill my orders ( even pre-tagged them in expectation! ) ... does this mean I'm (in)famous there ?
3/14 : my 'new' homemade entry/deck/window/etc 'spider-out'/'bug-out' spray is vinegary-lavendery wonderfulness *breathes in deep* - LOVE ! an amazing-happy mix of scent that keeps 'em out, makes the apt smell great, AND helps diminish the hallway/neighbour godsawful food scents ! <3
3/15 : 'Godfuck me, jesus!'
random hallway woman: "that's offensive!"
'I know, I shouldn't use a made-up word like jesus'
guy with woman, woman looks aghast: "he's right, you know"
woman drags guy off: "stop saying shit like that"

3/18 : even in dreams, no one threatens or attempts to harm friends of mine when I'm around - I haven't 'hunted' in awhile, but apparently I can still be quite creative & you will get far more than you deserve...
3/20 : it's the 1st Day Of Spring - and a Full Moon! ...and in just 4 weeks it'll be my 1st morning of my 1st full day on a Hawai'ian island :)
3/22 : when life throws you lemons, remind it that death is more polite & creative - having handed you nicely pomegranates & starfruit AND has even offered some guarana soda & cranberry juice, too !
3/23 : 24° and a couple people walking down the street - one in shorts & sleeveless shirt, the other bundled up in jacket w/ hood & gloves ... I know full well which one *I*'d be *shivers*
